BLT-community hall/pool

we will be checking in bright and early to BLT (7 am) before heading to MK for a pre-park BBB appt...after some touring and lunch we'll head back to BLT for a rest. I already assume our room will still not be ready, but can will still access the community hall and pool area w/ our "keys" even w/out an official room assigned to us

also anyone have a list of games, movies, activities generally offered there...

I can't find the actual activity list from our stay last March. But here's some general information from the Disney website.

Community Hall
Community Hall is located near the lobby entrance of Bay Lake Tower at Disney's Contemporary Resort. At Community Hall, you can play ping-pong, foosball, video games, watch TV or participate in rainy day activities. You can also pick up equipment for basketball, bocce ball, tennis and shuffleboard. DVDs are available to rent (at no charge for Disney Vacation Club Members) at Community Hall. Check the chalkboard in the children's area, located in the main lobby of Bay Lake Tower at Disney's Contemporary Resort, for games and crafts offered by the recreation team.

Maybe someone else can post what crafts their child(ren) did while at the Community Hall. I know when we looked in there were 3 CM's there to assist children and another CM (fourth) that seemed to go outside and check the sport courts.

Yes, even if your room is not ready at the time you check in, your "keys" will be good for everything but entry into the room. The front desk will activate that portion of your key when the room is ready to be occupied.

We have gone to BLT twice now and both times, our rooms were ready before the official check in time. The first time (last August) it was ready at 8:30 am!!! And in December, it was ready at 12:00 pm!! Here is pixiedust that it happens for you as well!!!

For crafts, they have bead making at certain times and lots of colouring papers and this is about it that is free. They have button making and I think those too are during certain times only. This cost a buck each. Then they have the Wii and other computer games, pool table, foos ball too I believe. DVD library.

There are other crafts too that you can make but they are not free. Strangely, I noticed that it was up to each resort to charge what they wanted, so sometimes one craft can be cheaper at one place than the other. Also, not all resorts do the same craft.

Here's a tip - Kidani's CH is way better. More free crafts and cheaper paid crafts than others. Even their button making was better as they do back grounds.

One craft that seemed to be available was to color and then make a button. My DGD made me one and she always notices when I wear it! It probably cost a dollar or two.

thanks for the pixiedust...I'm hopeful (as I'd love to make my DD w/ food intolerances a b-day cake on her actual b-day our check-in day)

but w/ it being Thanksgiving week I will keep an open mind...


also thanks for the thoughts on the crafts...free and speculation on cost...I'll remember to add some cash to our budget for that if needed

We checked in last week on a Wed (7/7) at 7:30 am and our room was ready.

In June we checked in around 9am and our room was not ready until close to 6pm , so we spent a lot of time at the CH and pool that day. The CH is quite small compared to some others we've been to, but it has pretty much all the same craft stuff. They rotate the daily craft, but there were always coloring sheets, markers and paper. They don't have a lot of toys like BWV.

Even if your room is not ready, you will get a key when you check in. You need this to enter BLT from the ground level outside and to get into the pool. They will text or call you with your actual room number once it is ready so you can just go right up to your room without having to go back to the check-in desk (which is at the Contemporary)
