I have a 160 point contract with a Dec. use year and points banked from 2020. So 320 points available. If I want to book a 4 night stay at BLT in a 2bedroom villa, I would have enough points. The total came out to 236 points. I like the option of always having 320 points available every year since it'll give me the option to book a longer stay easily. Now let's say I also have 200 points at Saratoga Springs. At 7 months can I modify/swap and use 76 points from my SSR contract towards my BLT stay and put the 76 points back and save them? I hope that makes sense. I'm basically trying to swap BLT points out for SSR points so that the following year I'd have 320 again. TIA

You can’t not replace a home resort booking with non home resort points unless the days are still available.

And, unless the days are beginning or end, it won’t take current UY points for the swap.

The only time I have been successful with swapping out days still available for days in the middle of the trip is when my other points were banked. Then the system took those for the available days.

However, I always try to swap my SSR points for RIV points when I can by stalking and waitlisting the nights. Then I have MS combine them back into one reservation.

Another option is to book two nights with SSR points (if available) and then modify your BLT reservation 4 nights to two nights. Then ask MS to join the reservations so that you don't change rooms. It's too risky to cancel the reservation and seeing if it's still available to rebook at 7 months.

If it's not a high DVC use time of year, and you have a Lake view booked at BLT, there is a good chance at least some of the nights might be available and you could then book with your SSR points. Lake view has the most rooms available compared to Standard view or TP view.......but no guarantees.

Do you think the last week of June, 1st week of July would be an issue?

So what you're saying is to book 4 nights at BLT and then (if available) try to book 2 nights at the 7 month mark at BLT using Saratoga Spring points. If it's available then I book those two nights using SSR points and then just cancel 2 nights from what I originally booked using BLT points? This way if it's not available- I'd still have my 4 nights booked. Did I understand it correctly? Sorry- I'm so new to all of this.

Yes. This is what I do!

You got it! The booking of BLT with SSR points guarantees you got two nights. Then you be okay modifying your original reservation by dropping those days you booked. Again, going the other way is too risky since those two nights could be taken by waitlist or another member booking. You can even just start with booking 1 night and keep stalking until the other night opens up so you end up with 2 nights. Good luck!
