BLT/AKV choices at Easter

We own at SSR but I'd llike to try something new. I already asked about AKL (1 BR needed--me, DH, DD 16 and DS 13). I know Kidani is what I should look for with the 2 bathrooms, try for close to the lobby.
DH has said he'd really like to try BLT first. We have some points banked that we have to use by 8/2012, and BLT would use those plus our 2011 and almost all of our 2012 points since we are traveling at Easter. To answer anyone's questions, we can't really go another time since I'm a teacher--our summers are full for now with summer gym, cheer camp, etc.
I have read some threads about the transportation from BLT being iffy, but at least we wouldn't have to rent a car, which we probably would at AKL. We rented one on our last SSR stay and it came in handy for early rope drops ( another Eastertime stay). MK is also my favorite park.
On the other hand, a savannah view would be fewer points than BLT lake view--and a standard view would be over 100 fewer points! Or, we could do a 4/3 split.
I have read here that BLT lake view is the easiest one to get at 7 months, but I don't know if that applies to holiday times.
Both resorts have cool looking decor as we toured both models last time we were at SSR. I don't think we could go wrong with either.
Any help or input for me here?

if you don't mind a split try it! It's like 2 vacations! BLT can't be beat for location - a 10 minute walk from door to gates of MK!! Seriously doesn't get any better than that. We always stay lake view and ask for upper floor facing CR marina. Easter is jam packed as you know, but when you are out on the balcony facing Bay Lake, it is so peaceful you won't even realize you are there at a very busy time. And you can see the Electric Water Pageant from your room. To catch the MK fireworks, just go up to TOTWL and avoid the crowds altogether. If catching those fireworks right in the park are a must for you guys, then walking back to BLT sure does beat waiting for a bus or monorail. Trust those who say "you won't regret staying there".:) PS - Don't forget you can get the monorail to Epcot fairly easily from there too.

You know I brought up the split stay thing with DH last night and he seemed OK with it. We haven't done a split stay for 7 years, when we had one night at the Dolphin and 3 nights at the contemporary.
I think I would start at AKL and finish up at BLT since it is my favorite, although it might be easier to get AKL over Easter weekend itself. I'm very excited. Since it's all 7 months for those two, I can book around Labor Day.

Moot point. You may not be able to get what you want for Easter at one or the other. Try for BLT first (my bet is that will be harder to get - and it will require more points). If not available, get AKV.

To give you a bit of hope. We stayed at BLT in 2010 and AKV Kidani in 2011 (in a 1 bedroom) both during spring break and both were booked at the 7 month window. I called at exactly 9AM and got what I wanted both times.

Thanks for that! A 1BR is just what we need.
DH is thinking BLT first anyhow, so I'll try that first. I may have to have DH do it anyhow, since with my teaching schedule this year I'll be teaching at 9AM.

Oh and as a side note....if we can't get either one, we'll be fine at SSR, in any section but Carousel LOL.

So if we see an adult lying on the ground, kicking and screaming that Disney doesn't love them it means you got Carousel? ;)

It could be...it's certainly the least attractive to me of the 5 areas! Last time we asked for grandstand, congress park or springs and got congress park, which was wonderful. Paddock would be cool now as well with the new pool and place to eat. They really need to step it up to make carousel anything but the red-headed stepchild of SSR (no insult intended to stepparents, stepchildren, or redheads.;))

Fingers crossed you get in at 7 months!! :thumbsup2 We hope to be heading to the BLT (in a GV) next April. We are currently booked at OKW, and in September we'll try for BLT GV.... either MKV or LV. I just called a couple days ago to alter our dates (we booked our flights and needed to adjust our dates to get a cheaper flight), and I was able to inquire about availability at this point in time(9 months out). Currently they have "limited" TPV GV rooms available and "multiple" LV GV rooms available. I am trying to keep a positive attitude!! Can't wait for September!!! Keep us posted on your progress!!!:wizard:

Yay!! LOVE to see these positive posts!!! Thank you!!!:cool1:
