Thinking of doing a 50 pt add on at BLT before the minimum # of pts goes to 100 and have some questions.

1. If we buy now and get an April UY, when do we get the new pts? April 09, even though the resort won't be open yet?
2. We take vacations a few times a year and wonder if it's better to get a different UY than the one we already have at AKV.
3. When will the MF begin? When we bought AKV in Oct 07, our MF didn't start til Jan 08.

thanks, it's all so confusing...

1. Yes.
2. You would have to purchase a new master contract to get a different UY.
3. MF for BLT will begin with the occupancy date of the unit which will be 9/1/2009 or later.

In answer to #2, it is almost never better to have two different UYs and master contracts. There are some people who find it to be decent, okay, or tolerable, and I'm sure they'll tell you this but generally, having two different master contracts is a much trickier proposition than having a master and a sub contract. If you want to combine points from those contracts, you'll have to use your one-a-year transfer to move them to the other contract, among other complications. Plus, you have two different banking deadlines to worry about, etc. There's a reason why Disney will always sell you points for the same UY -- it's way easier to manage.

I had similar questions, thanks for the info.
Does anyone know if there is already a waitlist for Blt points?
Thanks,
Mike

There are a lot of BLT points to be sold so they should be selling them for many years.

So if I have points at two different Homes but have the same use year, that means they will be under the same master contract AND I can transfer points between the two different Homes and that won't count as my one transfer per year? Hmmm... That gives me more to think about and I am really glad I read this thread!

If you have two (or more) contracts under the same member number (which will automatically have the same use year), you will never have to use your one-a-year transfer, unless you decide to transfer some points to somebody else. Points from different subcontracts that share the same home resort can be combined at any time, no questions asked. Points from subcontracts at different home resorts can only be combined at 11 months.

Thus, if I have a 100 point BLT contract, a 100 point BCV contract, and a 50 point BCV contract (I don't, these are just examples), I can make a reservation for 150 points at BCV at 11 months, and the CM at MS won't bat an eye. If I want to use all 250 of my points at BCV, though, I can't combine them until 7 months.

Generally speaking, it's preferable to have the same UY for all contracts, and that's the only way Disney will sell it to you.

The answer to this is given incorrectly above. The answer is no, you cannot use your points anywhere until September, when BLT opens. You still have April UY points, and the banking deadlines are the same, but the points don't "exist" until the property opens.
