I"ve been contemplating buying a 50 point add on at BLT. I've been researching on this forum and wanted to make sure I understood thing correctly. If I buy BLT with a December use year I would get 2009 and 2010 points? I wouldn't have to pay for the 2009 dues and the 2010 dues would be pro-rated? Does anyone know if the 2009 points could be banked? If they can't be banked the must be used by Nov 2010?? Last question, does anyone know the current price per point?? Thanks in advance!

most likely, yes. (sometimes DVC doesn't have 2009 pts still available.)

I wouldn't have to pay for the 2009 dues and the 2010 dues would be pro-rated?

dues are paid according to calendar year and not use year, so this is correct.

(edited to add: remember that if you are getting a dec UY, you are technically paying dues while you are still in your 2009 UY. so it's best not to worry about UY when discussing dues.)

Does anyone know if the 2009 points could be banked?

the banking window for Dec UY closes July 31. if you buy directly from DVC after July, they will most likely make an exception for you to bank the 2009 pts in order to get your money.

Last question, does anyone know the current price per point??

Thanks for clarifying that the annual dues are paid based on the calendar year as it is easy to forget especially when you are also discussing receiving another year's points.

Everyone seems to get hung up on wanting 2009 points. Many times the value of those points is less than the cost savings of buying resale. In the OP's case the points are valued at $500, and they are one time use only points.

bottom line do the math! After purchasing BLT direct and SSR resale (saving 4100.00!) I was on board to add on 100 pnts BLT resale but even at $100.00 PP with closing cost I was only saving 200.00 and not getting 2009 points (worth 800 - 1000.00) so we added on direct. As time goes on and more deals appear you just have to do the math to figure out the bottom line! Good luck!
