My friend across the hall, (whom I referred), a SSR owner, told me that he called his rep today and completed the purchase for 25 points at Bay Lake.

on Feb 17 & followed up after again comunicating with his guide that any member may buy add on at 25 pt minimum, not just BLT owners. <Thanks again to WilsonFlyer for your posting - it's much appreciated :thumbsup2 >
And thanks to you too MikeWest for posting, it is always nice to see information being shared especially good news like this :goodvibes

So yes it's correct, 100 pt BLT add-on is no longer for time being at least and 25 pt minimum add-on at BLT are again possible.

:)

I would love to get another 25 points. However DVC is not registered to sell BLT in Oregon yet.:scared: DH and I had to fly to Orlando 2 times to add to BLT. Since the new allocation of points for 2010 another 25 points would be helpful. :yay:

You could also fly to DL (or chicago)... (Just trying to be helpful. ;) )

Yes DH and I Jan 10th Saturday flew to Orlando left on the 13th with a 55 point contract just before the Jan 15 th dead line. Tried to price airfare to California and Chicago. It was cheaper to go to Orlando. Had the best power Disney trip. :thumbsup2 We are going in April for DH big 40 birthday bash hope I can get 25 points then. :cheer2:

Unreal...it was obviously a dumb idea from the start to shut out the easy money of small member add-ons, but they're training people to pay no attention to their marketing materials and schemes. I wonder how those who rushed to buy before the deadline feel :sad2:

I am very happy to hear this!!! BLT is our home resort and the thought of having to add-on 100 points to get a few more points here and there was really making us unhappy.

Salutes to those at Disney who were listening to our suggestions!

I can see why a 25 point add on for BLT is attractive to those who already have BLT points. I'm glad DVC made them available for that reason.

I do not see why a 25 point add on contract is at all attractive to those who have their points elsewhere.

With a 25 point contract, you can only get one weekday night in a MK view studio (depending on season, those are 17 - 30 points per night). You can't even get a weekend night (those go for 26-45).

Even if you bank and borrow to get 75 points every third year, your stay at BLT will be short and you will probably end up with stranded points (points that can't be used because there are less than the number needed for a single night and banking or borrowing won't help). I am assuming you will not be able to add to your stay at 7 months and that you add on to have a shot at the MK view. That said, prospects for a Lake View or Standard View aren't much better.

So unless you are OK with moving around during your vacation or OK with a short weekday stay every third year (in Adventure or Choice LV), a single 25 point add on at BLT isn't very attractive. For those reasons, I don't think the small contracts at BLT will command much of a premium on the resale market. JMHO. YMMV.

.

Some of us like to buy what we have cash for at the time. In my case it is 30 or so at one time.

So HAPPY they brought back the 25 points buy in.

Applaud you for that. I think financing a luxury purchase is a poor decision in most cases.

But I still think the smaller contract isn't of much use for stays at BLT.

I just hung up with my guide and just added 100 points. I was calling to add 25 then went to 50 and ended up with 100 with the cruise.

...or who bought 100 because they found out they needed more when the 2010 point charts came out and were told that 100 was the minimum.

If it were me I'm not sure if I'd be mad because I had bought more or happy because I had an excuse to do it.

So what happens when they end this and you need more points?

I think this was a limited time response to the mess they made with the points change, but......it's apparent they want to get away from these small add ons!

The only reason I would buy is to resell the minute they close this window:lmao: (ANd no I am not doing that)

I think it's a smart move on DVC's part. Personally, I think 50-75 pts would be a better add-on size for BLT but am just glad that it gives more people some time to do it either from scratch or to add-on to correct their new 2010 deficits. I'm sure a lot of people who want to pay cash will be able to use their tax refunds on it now. Personally, if the offer sticks around awhile maybe it will give us time to see the model on our next trip that we just booked for May. I am not convinced I would like the studio layout with that goofy arrangement with the combo "kitchbath". I think the more people who have a chance to see the models the better their potential sales will be.

But I still think the smaller contract isn't of much use for stays at BLT.

I bought 30 points at BLT so I could get a one bedroom lake view for two nights (56 points total) next January, using both my 2009 and 2010 points. I am also scheduled for eight nights at OKW before that. I can add a day or two in place of, or in addition to the OKW days, if they are available at seven months.

What will I do after that? I have plenty of time to think about it! :cool1:

All current knowledge available seems to point to the fact that the repeal is permanent and for all DVC members. I don't believe there's any sound reason to believe otherwise at this point.

I think it's a smart move on DVC's part.

It would have been a smart move never to have threatened people that they couldn't add on small if they didn't do it right now. Transparent money grab to try to push revenue into 2008 fiscal year. Then...oh, just kidding. Who will listen to the DVC timeshare salesman [cough, Guide] next time?
