BLT 1st Visit - Impressions

We just got back from BLT. We had a 2BR lockoff on the 9th floor, even #ed room. We had the kitchen with the bar stools, definitely felt big enough unless 2 people were in there trying to do something but I always feel that way in the villas. We did have an ice maker in our freezer but I had to flip the switch to turn it on. We also had the baster bathroom with jacuzzi tub and then walk in shower with 2 shower heads. Really liked this shower and loved it being completely separate from the main bathroom off the living area. Master bed was VERY comfortable.

Walk to MK was short and no problem (no one in our party has any physical limitations). We did have a 3 yr old with us with no stroller.

I was prepared to not like BLT because we are usually not a highrise hotel type of family but we were pleasantly surprised and absolutely LOVED it! We will definitely be planning another stay here. We have previously stayed at SSR, BCV and VWL and also stayed at AKV this trip and although we love each for different reasons for our entire party (12 people) BLT has become one of our favorites. The decor is not my style but it's not my home so it doesn't need to be. The staff were wonderful with all of our experiences with them, the kids loved the pool (and slide) and all in all we just felt so much Disney magic.

Hope this helps someone.

Amy

Thanks for the very thorough report. Which other DVC resorts have you been in that you can compare the kitchen in BLT to? I would have figured that it would feel spacious but I guess the pictures can be deceiving.

A few more questions- How was the walk to MK? Did anyone sleep on the sleeper chair? If so how was it? The pull out couch etc?

Was there noise from the hallways? The rooms to the sides of yours?

I would also be interested in hearing about the lounge if you went there.

Thanks,
Dee

We were there a few weeks ago. We are BWV owners but wanted to give it a shot. We loved the location and amenities but were underwhelmed with the decor and theme. Still, the location is so great it really makes up for any shortcomings.

Walk to MK is about 7 minutes. It's not much farther than walking to the farthest bus stop at the bus station. Enormously convenient.

My 11 year old slept in sleeper chair. He said it was fine but I thought it was very uncomfortable. No way I could have slept on it.

No noise at all from the halls or even above or below. Ultra quiet.

We did visit the TOWL. Huge viewing outdoor viewing area. Looked to me like it could hold 200 people easily. The indoor bar was quite nice but very adult. Not kid friendly at all.

Now that is just weird! So, just to clarify. The master bathroom had only the jacuzzi. The 2nd bath in the living area had the tub/shower combo and the 2nd bedroom/bath had another tub/shower - correct? And zero shower at all in the master? I would not like that at all!

No, sorry - MBR had both a jacuzzi and a tub/shower. The other two bathrooms had tub/shower combos.

Did the tub/shower combo have handicapped railings around the walls? I know there are two different kinds of handicapped rooms. Even if this was a handicapped room (w/o the roll-in shower) I just don't get why they would put in two bathtubs? :confused3 I would have thought they could have fixed the shower into a handicapped shower and changed the tub to a handicapped jacuzzi.

What room number were you in? I think work2play could use this information for her report on views and rooms types at BLT. http://www.disboards.com/showthread.php?t=2257082

11/27/09 -- Nevermind, I just reread post number 1 and saw your room number 8212. I think my mind was just blown away with the fact that you had two bathtubs in one bathroom.

Thanks for clarifying! When I first read your post this is what I originally thought you meant but then couldn't believe they had two tubs in the master. Seems like something went more than a little off in the design of that room! At least there was a shower of some sort but what a bizarre bathroom!

Our room was a 2 bdr lockoff. We were in 7235 and 7237. We did not have bar stools. We loved our stay!! Very close to the the skyway bridge.
