BLT @ 11 months for December 2010

popcorn::re the walking of a ressie for a week or more (for those who have employed this method) don't the CMs ever comment or question the 'why of it'?

I am in the process of walking my December reservation and every morning I have told the CM that I am walking the reservation, apologize for taking their time, and then proceed to get my dates changed. I think that most CMs are understanding about how important vacations are to people. That said, calling daily is a pain the butt and hopefully I will never leave myself in a situation where I only have enough points for a standard view again. I have 12 more days of calling MS to "look forward to" before I can stop the insanity. :headache:

not judging you;), was just wondering if CMs gave you any grief (taking notes lol). good luck on getting your ressie. i tend to do what many term 'double booking' until i get the 7 month ressie i want. I think twice about it, then proceed full steam. It's a distinct advantage of having enough points in the DVC piggie bank & probably looked upon by management as a good thing in that regard to churn add-ons.:confused3

imo, the system is seriously flawed. Yet, it's the system we have to navigate & as long as these sort of end-runs aren't flagged, it's fair game.

You really shouldn't have to call daily to walk the reservation. It's no different than if you are looking to book more than 7 days. For extended vacations you can call daily if you love to, or just wait up until the 11+1 day to add on days. Walking should be the same - ie, you are looking for a reservation longer than the 7 days (or whatever number of days you originally booked). The only difference is that you will cancel some of the original days you booked. Once you have the lock on the room and as long as you don't let it reach exactly 11 months for someone else to jump in then you should be the only one with access to reserve it.

Yes, that definitely is a great advantage to having lots of points. I would do that exact thing if we had the points for sure. :thumbsup2

I had to laugh at your comment because I *know* I'm being paranoid and silly about calling every day, yet I can't convince myself that I'll be okay if I skip a day or two. My fear, though, is that now I'm competing with others who have also walked their reservations, and who would also fall into the timeframe I'm in, particularly those days that fall within December 25-January 1. I know it's silly and ridiculous but I can't convince myself to not do it. Unfortunately, we only have exactly the number of points needed for a standard view, and this 2 week trip is going to be a dream come true for me so it's worth it to call daily to make sure I get what I need to get. So, definitely feel free to point and laugh at me -- I don't blame you one bit - LOLOLOL. :rotfl2:

I am currently successfully walking an extremely hard to get ressie, thanks to your tutorial. I have never understood the process until you explained it. That came just in time!!!:goodvibes

We stayed at Blt this past December and had a wonderful time. This time we are staying at our homes.:wizard:

My turn to laugh b/c I figured there was a good chance you'd respond the way you did! :lmao: Totally understand the feeling since you gotta just trust the system will work about the only way it can. Never say never though! I did try it out with our MK view reservation once I decided to stop trying for the Standard. Booked 5 days b/c I wasn't certain we wanted to spend that many points for 7 days but knowing I could take a couple of days to decide because my room would be available. And it was. :goodvibes Of course that doesn't mean that it wouldn't have been there even a week later as well.

I'll think of you calling everyday though. lol

Thank you Kathy! That's a great point. After seeing the NYE fireworks pictures, we've talked about going in a few years. I'll definitely remember your information.

Well, we had to "slightly" modify our December 2010 BLT MK view reservation this morning. Originally, we booked 12/11 - 12/15. Well, it appears that my DD is getting married at the Wedding Pavillion on 12/15 .:scared1:

Soooooooo, modfiied our ressie to arrive 12/12 and depart 12/17. There was a little "excitement" with MS today, since it appears that the nights of the 15th and 16th jsut became available, but as the MS rep was trrying to book them, they were "combing" the waitlist. After about 10 minutes, the rep tried again and the room was available ----- guess there was no matching waitlist request. Anyway, we did secure our desired dates.

Looks like I need (a) another job ,or (b) a winning lottery ticket in the next 10 months or so. :rotfl:

Maybe we can just have the reception in our 1 bedroom and watch WISHES?!?!?!?!?!?! Think I can squeeze about 30 people in there?????
