Just back from a six nights in a two bedroom at SSR and loved it so much that I added 250 points instead of the 200 i originally intended.
WLV was my favourite resort and i also love the poly. We only stayed at SSR because it was the only one available and tried to get WLV right up to the last minute. But, we were so glad we stayed there.
We had a fourth floor room in the Springs section, which we loved, as it was close to the main building, pool and spa. The views from the room were lovely - overlooking two small lakes with water fountains and a wooden bridge.
I was a bit concerned before staying, as i read a post on here that said ssr was like a moderate, from someone who had driven through it. If I had just driven through, I too might not have appreciated what a lovely resort it is.
The pool was excellent, with a great slide which was fun for adults and kids. The temperature was v warm - even in the evening and the hot tubs were lovely. There was also a small toddlers slide and a play area with donald duck which squirted water.
The food and drinks in the turf club were nice, and they had a pool table which was free to use. The gift shop and counter service restaurant adjoined each other - they were basically just one place and had a good selection of souvenirs, food, and foods to go, as well as a refillable mug station. The only downside was that it was only open until 11pm. There is also a refillable mug station at the pool, beside the pool bar, which was handy.
The spa was excellent - the best i have ever been in, and v large with many treatment rooms. The gym - i did not use it but looked in and it was excellent also. We had the peppermint pedicure in the spa and you sit in an elaborate chair which massages you, whilst having the treatment - v nice.
There is a golf course on-site, which is a major bonus - although we did not have time to use it.
The walk to Downtown Disney was not too far from the Springs section. I think it took about ten minutes - and even walking to Planet Hollywood, going via the marketplace took 20 minutes at the most.
Transportation was the biggest downside. We waited about 40 minutes for a bus to the magic kingdom. Next day we waited about the same to EE at Epcot - but both times several buses for other parks came by. It must have been just bad luck. As we waited to leave Epcot - two buses came for both OKW and WL - each and we still waited 10 minutes more. We didn't use the boat at the walk to DTD was short and the taxi's back were cheap.
The kids loved the Community Hall activities. There was also board games, playstations and a huge tv there. They also enjoyed the arcade.
The room decor was lovely. The only downside with the dedicated two bed was that there was only one balcony and it was v small compared to OKW - but the views were lovely.
We really loved this resort - which has appeal to all age groups. The only downside was the transportation, but the rest made up for this - and I can see us staying there more than anywhere else.
