Blowing Your Cover

I am wondering. On these boards, the majority of posters are, obviously, adults. I don't reveal that I am 15 anywhere besides the Teen Disney forum. I am afraid that if I blow my cover, people will not take my posts as seriously as they did before they knew my age. I do have a certain amount of credibility on the Theme Parks Attractions board. What do you all think?

Ehh, my mom kind of posted that I'm 13. No one's freaked out yet.

They're just going to have to deal with us teens on the boards.

I know what you mean. Some girl left a board that I moderate on because they chose a 16 year old to be a moderator. Is there really that much of a difference between 16 and 23? I never thought so. Blegh, whatever. I don't really say my age, but if someone asked I wouldn't say I was older.

I'm on a don't ask, don't tell basis, constantly. The majority of the (main) posters on a lot of the forums know that I am a teenager, and actually, I think it makes them take me more seriously. I type correctly, and I state my points in an arguement well, just like everyone else who is taken seirously. The only catch is, I'm 15-20 years younger than almost all of teh people I'm speaking to. They respect me, becasuse I respect them. Respect is a two way street.

oh i was taken seriously on the CB until they found out i was 12 quite a few posters started ignoring me and preending i wasn't there but theres still a few that will talk to me and Gymbomom can't get away from me

On the Theme Parks board, Trip Reports Board, CB, Resorts board and a few others, I never had cause to tell anyone my age. If they were really that concerned they could just view my profile I guess and see that I am near 18 years old, but I'm not treated any differently than the others on that board. However, on the VMK board...that is another story and another reason why I don't post there anymore lol.

On most forums, I don't tell my age right away. And then, when I do tell them they're like OMG! You sound so serious and mature. I've always been told I sound mature.
On here I told my age from the beginning, and I'm pretty glad I'm not getting any of those 'mature' comments. I'd just like people to think I'm my age. IRL people always ask if I'm in like grade 10 because of the way I look, with the exception of my heigth.

Depends. I do post on CB and Theme Parks a lot. I only reveal my age if it is an age specific question such as...What things do teens like in wdw? Or if I am on a thread where I am talking a lot, such as the Tagliarchy thread and the now probably long gone (lost on page 11 or something) thread of Oceangram...they knew my age. It's not really a big deal, people should respect you either way. I type correctly and don't start stupid arguments so many might think I am an 'adult' because I don't type like some teens OmG LyIIkES i Wenst to Thiis ConCeRt aNdS It WaaS 'Mazinggggggg!!!
So as long as you are mature I don't think it matters.

don't really care what people think about my age.

if they were older, they were once my age..
if they are younger.. i don't see how my being alittle older would get their underwear all bunched up

Well I don't post much, and when I do I post here. I just turned 12, so I was 10 when I joined and I mainly posted on resorts board then. I bet people thought I was older than 10, I am so well educated about disney thanks to my mom!
