We are Planning a last min trip with our girls to the park this sat-monday. DH and I have delx AP And I just looked and see that sat is a block out day. Is it worth paying an extra $120 to go? I would hate to post pone our trip yet again but I'm not sure I can justify spending that extra $$

Any thoughts?

Perhaps that should be a day to try something else. Universal?

Alternately if Saturday is your arrival day and you're planning to arrive mid-day or later that could be your pool/hotel/character meal day?

I've only bought the block out ticket once, and it was because I'd checked the schedule and looked at it wrong apparently because I thought it wasn't a block out day and we weren't departing until the next morning, had checked out of our hotel planning on heading to an airport hotel, and didn't have anything else we wanted to do. It was worth it when we were caught unprepared, but I don't know if I'd buy it as a plan ... the other option would be to upgrade if you were planning on doing more than one block out day this year.

Use that day as your off day, that's what we have done on past trips and it's worked out great. :)

Wouldn't be worth it to me. We go to the beach when we arrive on blackout days and just get an early start the next day.

Not worth it...hang out and do DTD, the pool, rest, plan...not worth the cash.

We usually don't pay it. If you will return on another blockout day then upgrade your AP instead.

Generally we plan those days to go to the beach, Knotts, Seaworld, Universal etc.

Not worth it to me. We are going on an impromptu trip this weekend too. Driving over Thursday night, going to go to the parks on Friday and since Saturday is blacked out, we are going to hang by the pool and go to DTD to eat and shop. Driving home Sunday :)

Use the blackout day for swimming or shopping/site seeing around the area or dtd. Try somewhere new to eat and use the day to relax before all the walking the next day. I know it is hard not to be able to go into the park but the day will go by fast. We got deluxe passes and most Saturdays are blocked out but I would not pay for the blackout day. It is not worth it to me.

So How many days total were you planning on being in the parks? If you are arriving Saturday and leaving Monday and you don't go in the parks on Saturday, that means you only get one and a half days in the parks.

Granted, that is better than no days, but personally I would want to be in the parks on Saturday as well. I would seriously consider upgrading or paying for the block out.

Aren't the blockout passes only half price for passholders? Maybe I was mistaken or that stopped.

We are driving down Friday pm (arriving at 12am) we are going to suck it up and pay the block out day.:sad2: We don't want to keep the kids out of school for longer then needed. :confused3So we will be in the park sat sun and Monday and leave tue am.

Now let's hope the crowds arent too bad. Im not a fan of going on the weekends :scared1:

Yeah, I would do the same. Sorry about having to pay, but I think it will be worth it. I will be at DL this weekend as well, starting Friday. I expect crowds to be regular weekend crowds, so not too worried. Anything will be better than my last trip, which was NYE! :)

If one of you have parking on a delux, conisder upgrading that pass to a premium. You can make up for the small extra cost of upgrading with bigger discounts if that person pays.

The price goes up and up, they are currently $59.

If you upgrade your pass is it pro-rated? Or do you pay the entire amount difference?

We were there on a blackout day last weekend. We swam, went bowling at the GardenWalk, and just hung out at our hotel.

My original plan was to spend the day at the Discovery Science Center. I realized that you can get a family membership for $99, and that includes free entry to ALL the ATSC Science centers (over 300 around the world!). This meant I could go there, then get in to both museums here in San Diego where we live (Reuben H. Fleet Science Center and the San Diego Natural History Museum), and the museum in Portland, OR where we visit often (OMSI). This is a great deal, and worth looking in to for your blackout day!
