Blocking emails-recent email breach related

If you actually "block" an email or the domain name, what happens on the sender's end-do they get a kick back email saying it didn't go through, does it just go off into cyberland? I have been basically spam free but with this recent email breach and the possibility of my email box being loaded up with spam doesn't really excite me. If I block any possible emails (on my end, not unsubscribing) will that work?

Nothing happens on the senders end.

What happens in mine when I block an address (OE) is the email goes right to my delete folder. So I still get it, but the email goes right to delete.

The difficult part is figuring out who to block. They also can spoof the domain & get past any blocks you setup.
