Blocking another persons posts?

Sorry I'm technically impaired. lol. I have read that if you don't care for a particular person's attitude (pot stirrer, rude, etc.) you can block their posts from appearing when you read threads. Is this correct and if so, how does one go about doing this? Thanks!

Go to the top menu, on the second bar click "User CP", then click "Edit Ignore"; you will then enter the user name of the person you don't want to see posts from. You can change your mind and add them back later if you wish. Hope it wasn't me! :goodvibes

The only hole in the system is that if the one who is ignored has his/her posts quoted, you do see them then. :badpc: If you see those, just skip on past so as to not see much of them. Otherwise, works like a charm. :thumbsup2

i have blocked 2 posters who only seem to show up on the controversial threads. They are always there to post a point of view that is non-sympathetic and highly arrogant. Real pot-stirrers. Who needs that false drama? Not me! :sad2:

The sad part is the one you blocked can still see your posts, so if you made enemies, they will continue to reply to your posts. Best is just to ignore some people, you do not have to reply to every post after all.

Well said. I've never felt the need to do this in all my years here until recently. Not hurt feelings at all on my part. (and I don't think I have enemies) And not random comments - everyone has off days. But some seem to be here ONLY to stir the pot or put down others - I think it's their sick enjoyment in life. It almost becomes a form of cyber-bullying.

I think a thread about blocking others seems mighty classy to me. The adult thing would have been to message a moderator or go to a board other than Theme Parks.

But such is today...

As I said, I'm technologically impaired or I probably would have figured it out on my own in the first place. I didn't think to ask how to contact a moderator. Too late now. But thanks for the thought.

If there is actually what to report. I noticed couple members who never say anything on topic but instead make some really annoying comments on almost every hot topic. Also some people just do not know when to stop but it is not enough to report.

Edit: Never mind, I just realized PP was not talking about reporting members. Sorry, I must be slow after sales shopping. lol

Yes I agree. I wouldn't dream of reporting someone (don't know how to do THAT either, lol) unless it was really horrible.

You see a little triangle to the left under persons name and info. This is how to report. I never did it myself, lol.

It's a pretty common question. They didn't call anyone out, just explained why they wanted to know.

The OP was asking a simple question, how is it done. Getting response from TPTB to a question can sometimes be quite difficult here, and asking other posters is generally a quick fix. As for leaving a board to go to another board because a poster is bothered by another is certainly not an adult thing to do. Why should a poster leave a board where that poster may be enjoying him/herself, other than the fact that there is one or two jamokes on that board, whom, with a simple setting, can ignore seeing those for the most part?
