I'm afraid of heights big time but actually you don't see the chute/drop from the top, only the view. My heart was pounding before I went on it the first time, but I was encouraged by seeing a wee girl of about 8 yrs go on it before me and I thought if she could do it then I certainly could. At the end of the day, you're not exactly likely to die on it. But anyways, it was a bit disappointing. You certainly DON'T go straight down and really what you're most aware of is the water and chute slapping repeatedly against your back so that kinda makes it a bit uncomfortable. I've done it about 4 or 5 times now I think but I don't rush to it as I get better thrills from the other chutes, and they aren't sore. Actually I think the speed chutes near to the summit are worse than Summit Plummet itself as those ones you definitely do come right off and are travelling through the air for a moment.
In summary, the only reason not to do it is because it can be a bit hard on your back (left me with red marks).
