Blizzard Beach- Stairs?

I’m a single mom that travels solo with my son to Disney often. On our trip this July I’m going to add a day at Blizzard Beach because he’s dying to go.

I have extreme nerve damage in my legs as a result of chemo (cancer survivor- 5 years in the clear!) so I’m a bit worried about the stairs. I already am under enough strain physically with the parks and would prefer to conserve my energy for that... Blizzard Beach would be on one of our off days.

1. Are most of the rides at the top of stairs? I know there’s a chair lift but man, I don’t like heights...

2. If most of the rides are at the top of stairs, is it reasonable to think I could just be chilling in a chair while my son just does his thing going up and down and riding the slides? I don’t know how big the park is. He’ll be 11 when we go and he’s a very independent kid... mature for his age too. I don’t know how comfortable I’d feel if he’s too far out of eyesight for too long. Unless I could sit close enough where he could check in with me between rides? Any insight on the layout?

It's been a long time since we went to Blizzard Beach, but as I recall it was fairly spread out. The chair lift takes you to the start point for one of the slopes with the "big" rides Summit Plummet, Slush Gusher and the big family tube ride Teamboat Springs; there are a couple other slopes for other slides plus I think there is an area for "tweens" he may like. There's also the lazy river and a wave pool. I suggest taking a look at a map: WDW Info looks to be a pdf or the WDW website allows you to zoom in/out.

I have never been to a water park without a parent but in the parks 7 and up to ride alone

As I recall, two slides require stairs, (one in front, the other at the back (which is brutal to get to), each of which you have to collect an inner tube and shlep it up the stairs, painfully. However, much of the other slides, You can take the chair lift to the top of Mount Gushmore which has all the big water slides and then walk a pathway to and the only one the strictly requires stairs beyond that is Summit Plummet and probably not something you sound like you’d be into anyway.

Most of the rides have a lot of stairs, so there will be considerable climbing throughout the day. You can use the lazy river has transportation. Not only is it relaxing, it has about four entry/exit points along the route so you don't have to walk all around the park.
