Blizzard Beach or Typhoon Lagoon?

Here's the dilema: DH, DS4, DS2 and I are going to WDW Aug 28-Sept 3 this year. We are staying 6 nights and will be doing the parks, etc. but want to do a water park for at least 1/2 day of our trip.

Any recommendations for a family of four with two boys? We will not be into scuba diving or slides- looking for a nice kids area that the boys will really enjoy.

If I remeber correctly Blizzard Beach has and area designed for the little ones with many different things to do.

Just found out that Typhoon Lagoon has the same type of thing so it depends on the theming. Do you perfer tropical or Ski resort type. I think Blizzard Beach is the easiest to get to.

I've never been to BB, but we really liked TL. My kids were older, but we really liked the wave pool. The kids area was pretty neat & everyone seemed to have a geat time.

Hiya,

Correct. BB has a 'Tikes Peak' with smaller versions of the adult rides so young kids will love it there. They both have a castaway creek type place for the family to float around on.

Does TL have a kids area like Tyke's Peak?

Does anyone prefer either park's theming?

DS13 & I are planning on Typhoon Lagoon one of our days before we activate our APs

Hiya,

TL doesn't have as good a childrens section as BB but I think it does have a small area suitable form young kids

I do like both waterparks but much prefer BB theming, Mainly due to it's origianality.

BB would be my choice for you and your boys. They will love the cartoonish theme and it is VERY kid oriented. The Little Tykes area is great. Large with lots of wee folk slides, play areas including a snow castle, lots of seating and it is set off by itself with only two ways in and out. We thought is was well supervised, more relaxed and less chaotic than TL. Not far from it you can enter the lazy river which they would also enjoy. The family raft ride is fun if they are big enough and you can even get up the mountain on a ski lift. The wave pool is very calm so it can be enjoyed by any age. While we love the TL wave pool, it is very powerful and really can't be enjoyed by the young kids. When my DS was 4 he got pounded (he was in a life vest and only standing in about 10" of water) and scraped up.

Thanks for the details, HopperFan.

I think we will go for BB. As far as the lazy river goes, do they allow us to float with a child on our lap? TIA

Pretty sure they do but they also have child rings which have you sit your child in (they dont have holes in the middle) and hold onto the side so they float along with you.
