We have kids from 11, 10, 6, 5, and 2 at the time of our trip, plus me, DH, and my mom and dad. Which has the most variety, best rides/slides, etc. My mom is not much of a water person, I, on the other hand love it, so we will have a big variety in our group. Any thoughts?

The WDW w/Kids Book has a little questionnaire to help people choose between River Country, Typhoon Lagoon, and Blizzard Beach. As I recall, Typhoon Lagoon is positioned as the middle of the road choice with the largest variety of choices for diverse families. River Country is billed as a good choice for families with young children. Blizzard Beach is recommended for the thrill seekers. Net, sounds like Typhoon Lagoon might be the best choice for your family.

We were at Blizzard Beach for about a half day a couple weeks ago with our 8, 4, and 1 year olds and two Grandparents. I chose Blizzard Beach because of the Jr. Ski Patrol area which is advertised as appealing to 6-12 year olds. I thought that would be good for my 8 year old since he's too tall to play in the little kid's area. As it turned out though, he started off on the 'adult' slides right in the beginning. He loved the Jr. Ski Patrol area too, but I guess I didn't have to look for a middle-of-the-road place for him afterall.

Our neighbors went to Typhoon Lagoon with 7 and 9 year olds, and they loved it.

I'm sure you'll have fun whichever you choose!

Blizzard Beach is definately more for the thrill seeker overall, but there are tamer areas. We found it to get more crowded at Blizzard Beach by around noon time than it did at Typhoon Lagoon. We also had to wait in longer lines at Blizzard Beach. There seemed to be more shaded areas at Typhoon Lagoon & more sand. One of my sons liked playing in the sand so that was nice for him.

We liked both!

Hi AlemanKC. I think there's more at Blizzard Beach for children of a variety of ages. I suspect your 2yo will enjoy the Tike's Peak area, while the 5 and 6 yos will enjoy the Ski Patrol Training Camp. (That area was perfect for my 4 & 7 yos last year). If they're fairly adventurous, I suspect the two older children will be wanting to try out at least the tamer adult slides.

Everybody can relax in an innertube and drift around Cross Country Creek. The 2yo can sit on an adult's lap and there are special children's innertubes for the 5 and 6 yos. Another ride that's great for the whole family is Teamboat Springs, which holds up to 5 people in a giant innertube and zips down a slide. I'm not sure whether your 2yo is tall enough to ride that one, though, and additionally I think there's a height restriction on the chairlift. Was it 36"? Anybody remember?

Hope your trip is magical!

We just returned from our trip 6/26 and we visited both
BB(once) and TL (twice). Our kids are 10 and 12 and although they did like BB they preferred TL. TL is a bigger park with more of a variety of rides. I enjoyed the beach setting too. I found TL to be more relaxing. They loved the wave pool at TL. The shark reef at TL is awesome. It's included in your ticket price and you get to snorkel in an area with beautiful fish. There are underwater viewing areas for those not snorkeling. Have fun, hope this helps.

Don't go to river country it is down right dangerous. People were getting hurt left and right when we were there in June. TL is much better and the staff better trained. I just got back and will post a report soon.

Just wanted to clarify my earlier post - The height limit on the chairlift is 32", not 36". I just stumbled across a Blizzard Beach guide from our last trip this morning.

Blizzard Beach- I went two years ago with 12,13,and 3 year olds.
The older ones loved it.(Did not go this time.)
Typhoon Lagoon- Went in 1999, and also just got back,7-2001. This time just with now 5yo DD.
She loved TL! (She loved swimming with the fishes, the kiddie area, lazy river, and the wave pool.) We stayed from opening to closing.
River Country- For some strange reason, she loved the bigger slides that run in to the river rather that the smaller slides. (I think she rememebers two years ago shooting down that bigger kiddie slide really fast.) However, I like RC because it is less crowded and smaller. It is nice after being surounded by people/crowds all the time. However, they closed the park at 12:30 due to storms. After 30 min. we were issued passes for the next time we go. (We had to insist though-Two CM acted like they did not know what we were talking about until another guest and I insisted that they had to relpace the tickets if the park was closed longer than 30 min and you were in the park less than three hours.) We can use them the next time. (GOOFY was also swimming with the kids as the park opened!)
But this trip we really liked Typhoon Lagoon!-It has more options for families that have children of varying ages.
