Blizzard Beach or Typhoon Lagoon?

Decisions, decisions?!?!

I have been to Disney a bunch of times but have only been to Blizzard Beach. So I personally would like to see TL. My family is going in October. My husband and I have a four year old daughter (almost five) and an 11 month old.

Which park should we choose? Weather permitting of course...

I'd do typhoon lagoon if you done blizzard beach, I personally prefer TL

Best memories are made in the big wave pool

But I would stay at the very shallow end even that throws up water if you got young ones

Still head over to lazy river if that's not your thing

Depending when you go in October your option may only be TL since there is a closure at BB. Both parks feature areas for little ones which is what you would most be after. If they have never seen snow, BB might be a bit more fun with the fake white stuff everywhere. But overall the theme at TL is more extensive.

I have never been to TL, but just took a trip to BB. We had a group with ages 2-52 and everyone had a blast. We had a 2 yr old and 3 yr old that LOVED Tike's Peak. We have local water parks here, and that is the best water park play area for little ones I have ever seen! We will definitely be going back next May. :)

Given your case I'd choose Typhoon Lagoon, since you haven't been there. Both parks have great kids areas and your children are the perfect age for Ketchakiddee Creek at TL. As noted above, BB is closing for annual refurb on October 25th, so if your trip is that late you may not have a choice anyway.

EDIT: The Blizzard Beach winter refurb is now planned to start earlier, on October 4, 2015.

We will be there 10/17-10/24. :)

BB is now listed as closed on 10/4 on Disney's website :(

Sooooo bummed, we had planned a day!

I much prefer TL. Especially with little ones. My dd LOVED the kids area. (The tween area is better at BB.) I find the tropical theme much "cooler" than BB's.

Your almost 5 yr old would probably love the Ski Patrol area of BB. It's designed for kids from 4-12ish. Tike's Peak is better for the baby. We've taken our kids to both parks when most of them were between 4 and 5. They all declared the kiddie area of TL was for babies and loved Ski Patrol. They were also tall enough for some of the bigger slides, and some of them were small for their age at the time. All my kids hated the wave pool at TL until they were old/tall enough to go out into deeper water. The bottom of the pool is very rough. They were getting knocked down by waves and by adults who were knocked down and washed up into the shallow water where the kids were. Several of them got pretty scratched up from the bottom of the pool. The wave pool at BB is much calmer so they had no problems there. The lazy river at BB seems to be longer, plus you don't have to drag the raft up the stairs like you do at TL.
