Is that a bad idea?? Wondering if I should add the water park option on to our park hopper. Just afraid weather will be too cool. Does anyone have experience going to Blizzard Beach in February?

Personally, I would have no interest in going to a water park in February. Even if the weather would be warm for February, it wouldn't be warm enough for me to want to walk around wet outside.

You have no way to know what the weather will actually be like until your trip approaches. I wouldn't want to waste my money on a water park option I might never be able to use.

I would not purchase it ahead of time. On our two February trips, I wasn't tempted to swim.

Agree with PP, wait until you get there to decide. I've been there twice in February. This first trip we froze, DD went with the high school band. The director told the kids not to bring coats - "it's Florida, you won't need them" We ended up buying her a coat and gloves because it was so cold every day we were there. We wore long pants, sweatshirts, and coats all day. The second trip the following year it was beautiful, we wore shorts and tee shirts although after dark we did put on a sweatshirt.

We were there in December, and the temps were in the low 50s some days... we were freezing! I wouldn't want to be in a water park in those temps. I would wait to get there & decide!

It's amusing how many people aren't aware that central Florida is not in the tropics.

February is one of our coldest months, even if you're from a cold climate it could be downright cold and the water parks won't even be open, wait until you get there.

It was 80 a few days during our February trip this year, it was also 50 two days as well. Add it once your there if you can.

Plenty of these people seem to be on these boards. Every year people start asking about the cold once summer is over, and there are always people that claim that it will NEVER be cold and they're from Canada/Norway/the Arctic and they've never been cold during their winter trips. No matter where you're from, a water park on a 30 degree day is going to be chilly!

I am going in January and I don't care if it's 50 out I am still going!

Thank you everyone!! I appreciate your advice! I have never been in February, but I do understand that temps can be quite low! I am actually looking forward to packing a little differently and enjoying the parks in cooler weather! I may even purchase a Disney hooded sweatshirt! I think we are going to skip the water park, and enjoy the other parks instead.

If temps (meaning highs) are in the 50s you can go.... but you'll be looking at a sandwich board saying "Sorry Folks! We're Closed Today". They close the water parks on days when it going to be too cold because they don't want to have to pay to staff them when 11 guests are going to show up.

A high of 50? I read it's usually in the 70s. Plus Blizzard Beach is set to open on the 6th so I am thinking they will keep it open for at least a week or so, right?

Average highs are in the low to mid 70s that time of year. But "average" is just that, an average. Florida "winter" weather is highly variable and depends on the timing of cold fronts. If a powerful cold front moves through the highs can be in the upper 50s to lower 60s with lows in the 30s for 4 or 5 days. If no cold front has been through for awhile you could have highs in the lower 80s. This year was a mild winter with very few truly cold days. Still, there were days even in March of this year during spring break when the water parks were closed for several days when the highs were in the mid-60s.

Unless you have a polar bear plunger in your family... hahaha... in winter, my DD absolutely LOVES to stand under the porch near-naked as the ice and snow water melts down on her!!!! AUGH! Brrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr...
