Blizzard Beach Do Over - "The Bestest Day Ever!!!! HORRAY FOR HOLLYWOOD! NEW 06/12 Pg 19 and 20

Also, a little tour of San Antonio! With at last one day of sun before the rain started up again, Jim and I headed out to the Japanese Tea Garden and the zoo.

The pelicans just finished PE - Group Shower!

Then we stopped at a food truck park for a little pork el fresco and grapefruit beer on our way home. I had been looking forward to this food truck stop for awhile.

I have to say we were a little underwhelmed to find that almost all of the trucks were either BBQ or tex mex of some kind, except for the shaved ice. But we decided on Pork U and it was good. Jim had a burrito and I had nachos. We sat in the shade and relaxed a bit, but left before the live music started, because the mosquitos were HUNGRY!

I will be back with the next chapter this weekend. This stupid computer is giving me fits again!

Your day in San Antonio looked fun too!

That is one cute surprise for the kids. They look pretty happy with it.

San Antonio (or what I have seen so far) looks awesome!

What a great way to surprise the kids! That's awesome. they must have been SO excited!!!!!!

I would love to visit San Antonia someday. So much history (and the weather doesn't suck either - or so I assuming) :rotfl:

I'm caught up Tammie. Looked like some fun times at Ohana and MK. I'm glad that you got to meet up with Marv and Pat!

I think my favorite picture of the whole bunch is the one of your son with his planning notebook! How awesome is that?!

Mark and family are on their way back from a trip to Disneyland and the Oregon coast.

Without you?!?!?!?

Can you say "disowned"?

:rolleyes1

That's such a cute picture. Especially the pee wee in the middle. :goodvibes

I have apparently been a good example, and he found some planning sites. That’s my boy!

Nice to see when you can have a positive influence on the children at some point.

Jim and I headed out to the Japanese Tea Garden and the zoo.

No!
I love Japanese gardens.
This is what I did once.
I drove ten hours straight to a city. Overnighted. Drove two more hours the next day to visit a garden. Drove back the two hours to the hotel at the end of the day. Next day drove ten hours home.
Just to see the Japanese Garden (Which was absolutely worth the effort, BTW.)

Those columns are very interesting. I've never seen some like that before.

Sounds nice... up until the blood suckers came out.
I wish we could find some way to get rid of those. For good.

All caught up - It was great being able to met up with you and the family. The one time we expect a long wait for dinner and your buzzer goes off right away. :lmao: It was good to have the time we did have.

We were a little stressed about making it until 10pm and then we stood and waited until just about 11pm before we actually started. Can you say adrenaline???? :rotfl2:

The race was fun. Looks like you have a good dinner.

How cool to surprise the kids.

The surprise was really fun, and Lindsay is so creative, so she always comes up with good ideas.
There is lots to do here, but like everyone, we get busy and forget to do anything outside our neighborhood most of the time.

They were happy once they figured it out!

There is a lot to like here, just doesn't feel like home for us after two years. We are adjusting, though. It is a great place to visit, though!

Come and visit! There is a lot of history, some of it actually in nearby towns. It is nice weather wise. It is very hot from July thru Sept. At least the past two Summers. 105 to 110 and humid. And we do have January, but the rest of the time the weather is great!

Nice to have you here. I am having so much trouble catching up everywhere. It was a good night and so fun to get a chance to see Pat and Marv.

Yes, I am so proud :goodvibesw

Without you?!?!?!?

You know the thought of a road trip that long with 5 kids really doesn't excite me, even if it is Disney!

She does steal everyone's heart.

Yes, the torch has passed

Wow! You are a super fan!

I'm not sure what the story is. Left over rockS :confused3 The shape is right, but the rocks are strange. The garden is beautiful, but a little smaller than I thought it would be. It was free with free parkibg, so that wasn't bad.

I wish we could find some way to get rid of those. For good.

They had a solution back home, they brought in little green bugs called midges that eat the mosquito larva. The only thing is, now they take over in the Summer in droves (the midges) . They smear up your car window so you can't see out, they come in through the screens at night and die in little green piles everywhere. I don't know what is worse.

It was a great night, so funny that the one time we want to wait a little, we were buzzed right in It was fun meeting you, even for such a short time. So nice of you two to make the time! I'm glad the race went well and you were awake for it. :rotfl2:

:crutches: Limping along with this laptop right now. I want to throw it out the window

Our first stop was Buzz! We were all excited to get our game on! I paired up with Evan, Dana with Mason, and Jim with Ryan. It was quite a heated competition.

Even though I look like my crossed eyes will certainly enable me to win the challenge, I came in 3rd place, behind Ryan and Jim. Evan was pretty excited, and pretty sure he was the winner!

Next we had a FP+ for Space Mountain. CLICK ON THE PIC

Evan was quite disappointed that he was about two inches too short.

Next time buddy.

Here’s how the rest fared.

Then Ryan and I took Mason again.

Then Ryan and I took Mason again. Pretty slick system. I guess this will be our last child swap trip. Oops, my memory is coming back. This is one place that messed up our day, but only if we chose to see it that way. I see Dana rode a second time, which means Mason must have gone with her.

Ryan and I took Evan on Buzz a second time.

. So, now we are a little off on our schedule. It is now about 10am, and we have a 10:00 – 11:00 yellow FP for Dumbo, but we wanted to be sure we got Barnstormer in, as we missed it last trip. Our FP+ for 7DMT is coming up at 10:30 – 11:30 – do you see where this is going? Yep. Misteps again!

We decided to take a quick spin on Barnstormer, which the boys loved! I rode with Evan, and he got a little worried at first, and then laughed his head off!

We headed for Dumbo, got almost up to the podium, and Ryan looked at his watch and said, “Wait! We are going to miss our FP for Mine Train!” His watch said 11:20. We jumped out of line and scurried over there, wondering how we could have let so much time go by. Everyone except Ryan ran to the left around the ride – he went right. We got near the front, and waited and waited – looking back the way we came – where did he go. Suddenly, Dana got a text – Ryan was up at the FP return entrance! We walked up and it was not 11:25, but 10:25. We had to wait another 5 minutes. Ryan checked his watch again. He had looked at it wrong. So between taking an extra ride on Space and getting out of line at Dumbo, we were a little off track. Never mind – let’s just get on 7DMT and enjoy!

We loved the ride – wish the inside was a little slower, so you could have time to see everything. The ride was a lot of fun, but a little short of course – as all fun rides are. I love that they give you a video of YOUR ride on the Memory Maker!

So by the time we were done with our day at the mines, it was 11:00, and we had missed our FP. So we moved on to Adventureland! JC was closed, so we hoped to ride MCOA, but everyone else was thinking the same thing about then, so we headed to POC to use our yellow FP.

The line was only about 20 minutes, but a FP is a FP, so we jumped in. I was having camera issues – I haven’t figured out how to get a dark pic yet, so I didn’t really take many – you have probably seen a few anyway – they did not make any new scenes for us – even though we are the Griswolds – I mean almost as famous as.

We decided we were hungry, and everyone voted for Pecos Bill’s. Jim had gave the boys a couple of trader pins each day – they had a lot of fun trading, sometimes they would make a trade, then trade it again later on.

I took very little food pics this trip. Jim and the boys headed over to the far back room to get a table, and the rest of us ordered and picked up food. Jim had the1/3 lb Angus Cheeseburger - with choice of Corn on the Cob, Apple Slices, or French Fries - $10.69 with all the fixin’s. He fondly remembers the mushrooms. I was happy to see a sort of Taco salad was back on the menu, so I orderedSouthwest Chicken Salad - Mixed Greens, Chicken, Monterey Jack Cheese, Tomato, Roasted Corn, Jalapenos, and Chipotle Ranch - $9.69 I think all I added was a little extra pico.

With our lunch complete, we were a little ahead of time for our Splash FP+, so we decided to skip a step and head over to Tom Sawyer. The boys really enjoyed the raft ride – we hadn’t done this since Ryan was about Mason’s age. Jim and I decided to sit and wait for them – I thought maybe a little strawberry shortcake would be in order, so I left Jim sitting on a little stone wall while I went looking for the little snack Bar – can’t find the name - very strange – they had sandwiches and chips on the menu, but they were closing just in time for lunch. I came back, and Jim was sitting there with his chin on his chest, sound asleep. I didn’t take a pic, because I just thought it would be too mean. In his defense, he had taken a Xanax to be able to be strapped in for rides and endure the crowds in tight spaces. This is a new development in the past few years - I hated that he was sleepy – I’m sure he missed out on some fun because of it.

With all the caves explored, it was time to take the ferry back across and make a Splash. On the way, some of our group seemed to get in a little trouble.

We arrived right on time, and soon we were in Zip-a-De – Doo –Dah land! Look who enjoyed the ride the most!

Next, it was on to BTMRR. Everyone loved this one – it was good that Evan got to ride with us on this one – he loves a thrill ride!

One more pass back through Adventureland to see how Aladdin looked – nothin’ doin’. We were on our way over to tomorrowland, but first a stop at Aloha Isle for a dole whip.I was the only real DISer – the rest of the group opted to head over to Plaza Ice Cream for a treat.

. We found a table outside, and just chilled for a little while. We could see and hear the Castle show across the hub, and Evan was very excited to see Mickey up on stage. We will visit this topic later.

NEXT: WHAT CLASSIC ITEMS WILL WE FIND MASON HOLDING IN OUR NEXT CHAPTER?

Tammy, I am finding it very hard to get here the last couple of weeks.

I could not see the reveal pictures...not sure why. But what fun...a DL trip.

I LOVE the Baymax shot in front of Space Mountain.

No Dumbo???? (:

Love the Seven Dwarfs Mine ride and your photo on it.

I'm surprised Pecos Bills let you sit down before you got your food. That was strictly forbidden the day we went (no biggie to me as I won't go back...not a fan of the place at all).

Looks like everyone enjoyed Pirates and Splash Mountain.

Your family is very smart picking Plaza Ice Cream over Dole Whips...I wasn't a fan of them. ;)

Love the MK morning. Way to go to with the yellow bands. Sorry you got off with the mine train FP+ Looks like you really made the best of the morning.

NEXT: WHAT CLASSIC ITEMS WILL WE FIND MASON HOLDING IN OUR NEXT CHAPTER?

I am going to guess Mickey Ears.

:offtopic: Has anyone ever wanted to flash THIS sign at anyone?

Yes! Mostly at me.

It was quite a heated competition.

Looks like it!

CLICK ON THE PIC

Tried. Failed. Will try again on another computer, hang on...
Worked!
Especially like the Baymax (is that his name?) photobomb. Never seen the movie, but the video was funny!

Evan was quite disappointed that he was about two inches too short.

Sorry buddy. Next time!

Here’s how the rest fared.

Mason looks a little perturbed.

I rode with Evan, and he got a little worried at first, and then laughed his head off!

:goodvibes

We walked up and it was not 11:25, but 10:25. We had to wait another 5 minutes. Ryan checked his watch again. He had looked at it wrong.

 Whoops!

What a great shot! Especially of you, Dana and Mason.

they did not make any new scenes for us – even though we are the Griswolds – I mean almost as famous as.

That's the only picture you really need to get anyway.

with choice of Corn on the Cob

That was a choice???? Dang! I somehow missed that!

He fondly remembers the mushrooms.

As do I!

The boys really enjoyed the raft ride

Never been. I really should check it out.

I came back, and Jim was sitting there with his chin on his chest, sound asleep.

Poor guy. MK will do that to anyone, not just from being on Xanax.

Oh my gosh! What did they do?!?!?

I was the only real DISer – the rest of the group opted to head over to Plaza Ice Cream for a treat.

More for the rest of us!
