I understand that Blizzard Beach is closed from Oct 22nd for refurbishment however how long is it closed for, I am going 22nd November for 11 nights and I would hate not to have at least 1 day even at the end of the holiday at this amazing water park. Anyone got any information as to how long it will be closed?

I take it they will have Typhoon Lagoon open when Blizzard Beach is closed so we can go to at least one water park?

By the way, a search for other posts has some people saying both are closed and some people saying they are closed for longer than what other people are saying, so who knows for sure, thanks ;)

They usually close the water parks for 2 months for refurbishment. My guess is Blizzard Beach will not be open when you are down there, but Typhoon Lagoon will be.

I've had rotten luck with Blizzard Beach. When I went in Feb. 2001, it was closed, then last year when I went in Nov., It was closed again. I will finally be able to check it out this trip, and I'm so excited!

Blizzard Beach is magic, just love it. Sounds like I will miss out this time, still I have always wanted to try swimming with the shards in typhoon lagoon and now it looks like that’s what I be doing.. That and trying not to drown as that massive wave come crashing towards me in the big main pool ;)

Still shame I am not getting my once ever 2 year speed wash, but I guess I can live with one park being open, otherwise I have to get the limo company to take me a day trip to wet ‘n’ wild and that’s just not Disney!

I guess the Disney Site in the UK is run by Mickey Mouse as it's not the same as the USA one.. what's that all about, you think they would check!!

I would complain but I not got the first clue who you would complain about the website in the UK giving false information. Some poor people are planning holidays based on this information.

Rumor has it that Blizzard Beach will reopen on Christmas day this year; Typhoon Laggon will close the day that Blizzard Beach reopens. I'm a lifeguard at Typhoon and even we don't know the exact dates yet!

I am soooooooooo sad BB will be closed when I'm there...Dec 3-10. Is TL still fun? Are there scary slides? :(

I am looking on the bright side, last time I went to Blizzard Beach and didn't go to Typhoon Lagoon (only went on the first trip), this time around I have no choice but hey I always wanted to try the swim with the sharks thing (as long as they are tiny and don't eat me LOL).

Typhoon Lagoon is still pretty cool, even if I can't get a 70 mph speed wash, however I am sure the surf pool will clean me up good as the way the waves come in you think it was a giant washing machine Disney had put together ;)

Is it warm enough for the water parks in December. We have never been to either one of the water parks.

I live in Scotland so I am confident that even the coldest day for people in Florida will be like one of our best summer days LOL ;)

You might find this interesting, on the flight over we stop off in Iceland and we be going to the Blue Lagoon for a couple of hours before we get on the flight to the USA.. Iceland is freezing in November, however the Blue Lagoon is heated by a volcano so it should be nice and toasty in the water.

TL is fully heated except for the shark reef which is 68 degrees year round.

December weather can vary greatly from day to day. It could be low 60's to almost 80. You never know.

TL has an awesome wave pool compared to the puddle that BB has. Most of the slides are tamer than BB, but definitely try out all three differnt slides on the new ride, Crush N' Gusher. You can read 1, 2, or 3 people and believe me the ride is better the more weight you put on the tube. Don't go single rider on it unless you want a boring ride.

My educated GUESS, based on past years' experience, is that Blizzard Beach will reopen around December 15 in time for the Christmas crowds* and Typhoon Lagoon will close just after January 1, reopening mid-February.

*yes, I know this is only the second year BB is the water park that shuts down in the fall, that it was always TL through 2004, but my guess is based on both waterparks' history, not either park specifically :)

I'm actually estimating that BB is going to re-open (and therefore, TL is going to go down on), Monday Dec 12 2005.

Of course, I'm using only last year as a guide for this - BB went down a day earlier last year and so opened a day earlier than my estimate for this year.

I like kaytieeldr's idea though - that would mean that we would get in much more time at both WP's this year! (My BF has yet to see the surf pool!)

Cool! I bet it is warmer in Florida! My Brother in law, his wife and two sons live in Glasgow! My SIL is always wearing shorts no matter how cold it is here, LOL.

That would be great if Typhoon Lagoon opens on March 10, 2007! Disneyworld.com shows it opening on March 18, which is the day we leave. We much prefer Typhoon Lagoon over Blizzard Beach. Disneyworld.com does match the dates you gave for Blizzard Beach re-opening.

Both water parks are closed for nine weeks each this year.

Typhoon's last day of operation will be Saturday January 6, with Blizzard reopening on Sunday January 7th. Typhoon will reopen on Sunday March 11th.
