Blind Grandfather, Hyper Grandson

Hi=) My husband, myself, our 6yr old son and legally blind (7%vision) father are hittin WDW the end of august 2013. Were staying at PO Riverside. Althought very spread out, daddy has stayed there on his last 9 visits, so is very familar with the layout, which makes things easier. Daddy has expressed the wish to give hubby and i some 'us' timeby hanging out at the hotel with Jr. Probably dinner, the pool, arcade. I trust my father 1000000%. My son though,can become hyper and excitable. He is very aware of his bupa's 'challengez'. No toys on the stairz, middle of floor, chair go back in the same spot etc. I know the resort offers 'babysitting', but thats not what we need per-say. My worry is that if he wanders to far out of the field of vision, or 'hollerin' range, will there be aenough cast members around to help point him out or coral him back or closer? I think im more worried
that if jr get lost, dadfy will feel horrible. I wouldnt hold it ahaisnt him tho! Any thoughts? Suggestions? Similar experience? Thx=)

First, please use spell check; it's hard to read your post. Plus, it's just as easy to type an s as a z to make a word plural,

Disney employees are not responsible for your child. If your father can't manage your son safely in the parks or at the resort, maybe he could watch him in your hotel room.

I agree that a CM can not take any responsibility for your child. A six year old needs total supervision anywhere at the resort, especially around the water!!! Maybe you could hire a sitter to spend time with them at the resort while they are together but that would rule out water activities. Is your dad accustomed to supervising your child in public and around water activities.

1st, i am not on a computer but on a basic phone, although it has internet it has no spell check. To fix a typo three lines back involves deleting everything writen since it and starting again. It becomes frustrating after the 4th time. Especially when english is not your first language, i am french Canadian. There is a very intresting post out there where only the first and last letters of the words are in the right order, but the human brain can read and process the words fine. The z's where not purposly typed instead of s's.

I think in room pizza, a movie and maybe a trip to the arcade is what theyll do.

Hi, legally blind here myself. Grandma who always takes granddaughter to Disney. There is a movie night at POR, it is on the lawn in front of the mansion, at least it was. Can't remember it all, I think there may have been s'mores. That would be a great night. Also, there is family fishing, I think for $12 you can get 6 fishing poles for an hour. There is the arcade, that is usually good for an hour of fun. If money is not an object, there is the carriage ride, it takes about 45 minutes, for a fun evening. They could take the boat to dtd, not get off and come back, that will take about 45 minutes. There are quiet pools, that maybe a better option than the big pool. They also have a playground. If you are having your time during the morning, grandpa could stay and put little guy on the pirate tour, forget what it is called but the kids go on a pirate scavanger hunt, it takes about 2 hours, grandpa doesn't go, but could rest up and get him off again. Whatever they do they will have fun.
