DAY SIX: Grumpy at MGM
No, Grumpy really wasnt at MGM, but our two little grumpys were. The kids were quite cantankerous thus morning even thought we had left them sleep in again. I dont know if it was just us, but the map and layout of MGM leaves a lot to be desired. The map isnt really very clear nor are the street signs, but the worst is all the dead ends where you have to backtrack. It was frustrating to walk to an area only to meet a dead end and have to go back from whence you came. We initially tried to find Playhouse Disney, but took the wrong street, walked the length of it hoping to find an opening to cross over thru, only to reach the end and have turn around and go back (this was the street that Tower Of Terror is on). I have never seen this mentioned before, so I dont know if we were just directionally challenged that day or what. When we finally made it to the PlayHouse Disney show, it was full. We were told to arrive at least ½ hour before the next show.
We decided to see the Voyage Of The Little Mermaid. We got inside the area you are in before you enter the theatre and both kids threw a fit that they didnt want to go in. So, we left. They didnt want to do anything. We were like the kids begging the parents to be able to do some attractions. Finally, we came upon the area where you meet Mike & Sully. That brought the first smiles for the day. We headed towards Als Toy Barn to see Jessie & Woody. There the kids got to see Buzz, Woody, & Jessie. They were really happy then as they love the Toy Story movies. We said lets go see the Muppets and were met with a resounding NO. Argh. We decided we might as well leave and go to another park. We stopped for lunch at Pizza Planet. The salad and pizzas were pretty good. The kids wanted to play some games, so bribery set in and I told them if they agreed to see the Muppets, they could play games. They agreed. So they played some games, They were really excited to be at Pizza Planet. Then we left to go see the Muppets where they tried to renig on our deal, but we held them to it and they ended up enjoying the show. Then we ran into the green army men from Toy Story and the kids visited with one of them.
While we were on a role, we headed back to the Little Mermaid show and they agreed to go in. It was a very nice show we all enjoyed it. Given that it was such a hot day, we also enjoyed being in the cool. Then we needed to decide between PlayHouse Disney or Beauty & The Beast as they were scheduled for the same times. Dd really wanted to see Beauty & the Beast, so we went there. The show was very good and the kids enjoyed it. Then we found a shady spot along the street for the parade. The kids really enjoyed this parade. After the parade we headed to Hollywood & Vine for our dinner (Fantasmic package). The service wasnt the best here, but the food was good. After dinner we went on the Backstage Tour it was pretty cool, especially the flood scene. Then it was time to be at Fantasmic. We were told to arrive 30 mins early. We sprinted across the park and made it there exactly 30 mins early, but they didnt admit us for another 5-10 mins. It was a little hike to the theatre from that entrance. We had excellent seats for the show. We got some popcorn to entertain the kids until showtime. The show was awesome. The kids were very nervous about going as they had seen the dragon in the Disney vacation planning video, but they did fine. Ds said it was awesome afterwards & was proud he had braved it. We were able to see some of the fireworks from Epcot as we were walking out.
We headed back to the hotel and took another dip in the pool and then off to bed.
