Cast: DH Dads first trip to Disney in 20 years
DD age 3 Princess Extraordinaire
DS age 5 Prince Of Our Hearts
Me - Mom & trip planner also my first trip in 20 years
Check In & First Day:
We arrived at the hotel about 1:00 pm and our room was available then. We had requested Cabanas 9B, but were placed in Ranchos 7B. I didnt complain as I had read in a thread there that the Cabanas were being refurbished. We picked up our FTP Donald Duck print and Pal Mickey at the gift shop. I had arranged gift baskets thru Gifts of a Lifetime for the kids and they were waiting for us at the front desk. We then went to see our room and went back to the El Centro to grab some lunch at the Pepper Market. It was good and fresh. We didnt order much as we had a 5:00 reservation at Chef Mickeys.
We went back to the room and hung out for a little while, getting our backpack packed, etc. Then it was time to get ready for Chef Mickeys. Dd3 wore her Minnie Mouse dress and ears and ds5 wore the Mickey Sorcerer hat we had gotten him at the hotel gift shop. We took the bus to Magic Kingdom and then the monorail to Chef Mickeys. We arrived on time and checked in. We had our photo taken and were seated. The characters started coming pretty quickly after we sat down, so I was glad I had the camcorder and cameras ready to go. Oh what fun it was for the kids first day at Disney. They were sooo excited to see the characters. Of course, Minnie & Mickey made quite a fuss over our little Minnie. The food was excellent, but honestly we were so into watching the kids reactions, it wouldnt have mattered what we ate. I especially enjoyed the pasta with mushrooms in pesto sauce & prime rib. Those parmesan mashed potatoes were good too. I needed to use the ladies room. As I was headed there, Mickey took me by the arm and we skipped our way across the room. The kids were in awe. Dd said, Mommys with The Mouse as she affectionately called him. My only complaint was the person came with our picture package and wanted us to decide about it right when the characters came and I was trying to savor the kids first time seeing the characters and to capture it on film. It felt a little intrusive. Other than that, it was a magical experience. Dd was actually giddy from meeting the characters. The characters all came back several times so the interaction was great. The kids also really loved the napkin swinging song.
We debated over going to the Magic Kingdom to see Spectromagic and the fireworks, but decided we were too tired and should rest up for our first full day. So we went back to the room and went to bed.
