Down here at WDW and took 2 separate buses that each must have be 90 degrees inside. I have been to WDW about 30 times the past 10 years and the last 2 years I have noticed this on the buses. Can't imagine that this is just bad luck on my part. Hey Disney.....charge me an extra $5 and turn the AC on in your buses.

I think it is just bad luck. That, and the fact that it has been so darn hot down there the airconditioners can't keep the air as cool as we would like it.

Wow, this is different. I can't tell you how many times I've heard, can you turn down the AC, it's too cold. BTW, the answer is no.
I think maybe it was just bad timing. If they were the older buses, and I'm guessing they were, and if it was just put into service, it does takes a while for it to cool off. Especially if it's the middle of a hot sunny day. Once the bus has been given a chance to cool off and it hasn't, drivers take it out of service to have it looked at. We don't tolerate a hot bus. It's usually the first question we ask the driver when we switch drivers on an old bus. Believe me, we're the first to complain. It's hot in the drivers seat to begin with on the older buses when the AC is working, it's unbearable if it's not working. The good news is that there are fewer and fewer of the older buses. And, you can leave the 5$ on the seat when you leave.

I have never been on a hot bus..not once in all my 30+ trips to WDW. I was there for close to two weeks this summer (7/31-8/12) and every bus I got on was too cold!! But, that was upon boarding the bus. You got used to the chill quickly. I never ran into a bus that was overheated inside. You must have just been very unlucky.

@magicbus....thanks for the answer. I assume u r a driver and I guess it was multiple episodes of bad luck. I really feel bad for the driver when it is hot. I'm sure drivers get tons of complaints and rude guests as it is. I m always appreciative of the drivers. I will leave the $5 on the bus next time ;).

Yep, he's a driver...a very valuable thing to have here on this board. We get tons of great info from our bus drivers here. We have a couple of them, as well as boat pilots.
And thanks for not getting all defensive when others posted that they find the buses too cold!!! Many posters get all upset when others don't immediatly agree with them, or post about opposite experiences, which makes the original poster feel like they are being call a liar!! Thanks so much for not going down 'that road'!!!

Ditto on goofy4tink's remarks about the OP's response.
We cringe when we're assigned an older bus because we know that the huge magnifying glass, the curved windshield, is going to do a job on those niffty, almost black polyester pants we now wear. The reality is that some riders, you for instance, will have a hot bus. Out of the total number though, it's a small percentage, and you were one of the lucky ones. You must do well in the lottery?
I suggest that if someone feels that the AC is not working, please tell the driver. I for one want to know because we're going to be hot anyways in the drivers seat and we may not be aware of what it's like in the rest of the bus. It's also gives us a good excuse when we call in. We can honestly call in and say that the guests are complaining that it's too hot in the bus.

Do the windows open?

Depending on how long I expect it would take the next bus to arrive I might want to get off and take the next bus.

Long long time ago, before about 1965, almost no buses and streetcars had air conditioning.

If the curved glass is of uniform thickness, it won't concentrate the sun's rays or heat in the fashion of a magnifying glass. But any glass, even flat, will let a lot of the sun's heat in, and the radiant energy coming through a freezer's glass door or sliding panel is enough to melt ice cream sitting inside.

Once I was riding in a streetcar with two sections and the back section's AC was not working. As an obvious result, people would not please move back despite the driver's frequent requests all through the town.

We were there last week with heat indexes of 105 and the buses were really nice and cool.

I can't speak for this year but I went last July and I was freeezing thanks to all the air-conditioning! I wore a sweatshirt on the buses!

This is sort of funny to me, because I get so cold on the Disney buses, I always take the very back two seats above the engine to stay warm if they are available!

Just the drivers window opens.

It depends on the time of the year and which of the three models you were on. I don't recall a guest ever telling me that it was too cold in one of the older buses during the hot months. Different story the rest of the year though.

when we went down 7/17 - 7/24, every one was complaining about the hot busses. The Friendship boats did not have their AC on. We commented to a CM at the Contemporary about how the restaurants were also warmer inside and that the only places that seemed cool were the stores. She told us it is a cost cutting measure due to the economy. She said the stores were kept cool to keep the shoppers inside longer.

Haven't been in a couple yrs. Magicbus - saw you comment on black poly pants -- are the bus drivers no longer wearing the purple pants uniform?

I've been on a hot bus at Disney in the middle of summer, I was sitting in the back of the bus and the seat I was sitting on was blazing hot,I assume it was the engine or whatever that was making it hot. That bus ride was probably 5 years ago and I remember it clearly cause it was not fun at all, after about 10 minutes sitting I had to get up and stand by the back door, by that time my back was burning hot and I was sweating like I was running a marathon. What made it even worse was that it was a bus out of AK(the furthest park) and there was construction on the road which had us not moving for like 5-10 minutes.

lol that's the seat that I like! (I am one of those people who is ALWAYS cold, I've been tested at the endocrinologist and everything).

Entirely different experience from my 7/31-8/12 trip. We found the restaurants to be fine....didn't see much difference than from our previous summer trips. And the boats don't A/C well at all to begin with. They have very small 'vents' that just can't do the job well...that's why there are fans up front, and the pilots leave the front windows open, for the most part.
I know that on our buses, there were a few complaints from people that they were too warm, but those were the people sitting along the back row of the bus...where the heat is. Others had no issues.

No more purple Barney costumes. The new bus drivers uniforms came out a few months ago. Most drivers like them, but there are a few problems with the new ones. Also, not many of the drivers like the hats. BTW, that's not me in the photo.

Just wondering do you miss wearing purple pants.

We just returned from our 8/14 through 8/22 trip and found most of the busses to be very cool and comfortable. A couple busses were downright cold! I was impressed with the bus temperatures because the heat index was 106 a couple of days.

I like the new uniforms but could do without the hats.
