WASHINGTON - For much of the 1990s, the Walt Disney Co (nyse: DIS - news - people) consumer products division was a runaway revenue engine. Operating income grew $100 million per year, topping out at $893 million in 1997. Then the bottom fell out, partly because of the whims of fashion.

Washington Post Business - Feb. 20

Yes, I admit being whimsical to fashion.

Hmmm....

Does the fact that Disney hasn't stocked much in the way of interesting adult fashions in its stores a sign of whimsey on the part of shoppers? We aren't talking following major fashion trends...just clothes the average adult would enjoy wearing...at home....not in the "world".

The bottom fell out on the quality of the products they produced!!!
