You need to slip Isaac or Gopher 50bucks and he will talk to Julie, who will put a word in for you with Doc, and then of course The Captain always listens to Doc.

I really have no idea how they pick who gets to dine with the Captin, but back in 2002 we were invited to dine with him as well as 3 other couples. Dinner was up in Palo but due to a ship emergency (the Magic stopped to help a boat of cuban refugees that were in distress) the Captain was unable to attend the dinner. It was still very nice with a menu that was signed by the Captain with the latitude and longitue on it of when we were at dinner (was sent to our Cabin the next day), a group table photo, complimentary drinks, red rose for each of the ladies. It was a very ecletic bunch and no one really knew how they were picked!!! The VP of DCL (the president now) Tom Alpin (I think that is he name) happened to be sailing as well and we kept stopping by our table giving us updates on the refugee situation and if the Captain would be able to make it to dinner. It was a very interesting night all around!!!

I never did see a Captain's table on the Magic, but with 3 dining rooms, he could have been anywhere. I did see a Captain's table on my 6 previous non-Disney cruises.
We did see them preparing a big BBQ on the bridge one night. They had a BBQ set up just outside the bridge, and a buffet table. Maybe that was just for the staff on duty?

We were told by the staff when we were invited by the Captain that he does the Captain's dinner up in Palo.

DCL used to have officers sit at various tables throughout the dinning rooms on "lobster" night (don't remember if thats formal or semi formal night). We had an officer dine with us and it was WAY COOL :cool1:  (not this type :cold: of cool:) )

They stopped doing it because "it cost too much" because the officer becomes the "host" of the table and the wine flows - oh yeah!!

Here is something that I wish they would bring back.

We were seated at the Capatain's table in Palo (party of 10). Unfortunately, there was no captain. I guess he doesn't want to eat at Palo every night. We had a blast though. We got some special attention. Our server brought out one of everything on the menu and we just passed food around all night tasting a little bit of almost everything. We were stuffed but had a wonderful, or should I say, "Magic"al evening.

On our Magic cruise last week, we sat with the Captain at Lumieres.

OK- we actually sat at the table next to him! He was sitting with just his wife at the table next to our regular table and our server team was serving them.

Our server jokingly told him that they could switch the tables if he wanted to sit with our children. He said no, but also said that we were doing a very good job raising our children as they were very well behaved. ( Two couples with four kids- 9 and 3 year old boys, and 7 and 5 year old girls.)

That was formal night, and we also had our picture taken with him earlier in the evening.

PS- Edited to add: Also if you take the regular bridge tour (not the VIP one that only certain people get invited to) it is done by a member of the Adult Programming Staff and not any of the ship's officers- just FYI.
