BlackRapid for Women RS-W1

I have the RS7.
I do like it. I also bought a neoprene cover for the camera. It does NOT fit with the RS strap since it connects to the bottom of the camera. I bought the cover so I could maybe just take the camera and not my big bag with me on my overseas vaca.... save space you know....
I dunno if that's going to work.

Thanks for the feedback! I hope you can get your case to fit.

Could you cut a hole in the bottom of the neoprene case where the strap attaches? Maybe even sew around it to "seal" the cut?

I debated between the RS7 and the RS-W1. The thought of pockets on it made it appealing, but then I read reviews that it was too bulky, especially around the neck. Pants pockets took care of that problem.

I'm a little concerned about the bulky thing too. But I wanted to store a spare card in the strap, and wouldn't be comfortable putting one on my pocket. I lost a cell phone once that was in one of my pockets, so now I next to nothing in my pockets. I guess I need some good cargo shorts or something.

My only other hesitation was not having the camera on a strap when I set up my tripod for the fireworks. I always keep the strap around my neck or wrapped around ond of my hands in case someone bumps it. So maybe this is not meant to be for me.........

Any women out there with the basic version of the black rapid? (not the one with the curved strap)? I like the idea of having a couple pockets to store a card and battery.

I've had the RS4 for quite awhile and love it. A plus of it is the straight design so you can choose which side it will hang from. The minus of that is the pad tends to work it's way around and you have to reposition now and then but it isn't bad and I do like having the pocket for a spare card. I'm surprised they didn't do it in the women's strap. :sad2:

I have used a neoprene cover with my RS4 strap but I don't put it on exactly like it was designed to. :rotfl: I'd suggest playing around with it a bit. I've run the strap thru the slit that slips up over the lens and though nothing looks like it should it still keeps the strap on and the camera protected.

I tried out the women's strap yesterday. I was using it with a 100-400 lens (heavy). In the past, I have worn my regular next strap, cross body. This strap was no different really. Being able to easily and quickly slide the camera up was nice, but after a few minutes, the strap also crept up and I was constantly having to readjust it. However, when I set my camera down, it was heavy enough to pull the strap back in place with the stop bumper.

I don't use a tripod very often, but when I do, I also like to have the strap around my neck or wrist "just in case." With the 100-400 lens it's no problem as there is a tripod mount on the lens in addition to the one on the camera.

I didn't have any issues with going from horizontal to vertical shooting, as I read in some reviews. It was comfortable, and large enough to fit me (tall and rounder than I should be).

Bottom line, was it worth the hefty price tag? In my opinion, not really. If it didn't move around so much, then I'd say it might be worth around $45-50 at most. I am going to try it out one more weekend and then decide on keeping or returning it.
