Blackout Dates for CMs

Hey so I'm at WDW in the CP program and I know that July 4th is black out for CMs not working in both MK and HS but my roommate just texted me and said that CMs arent allowed in MK from July 3rd-Aug 1st and in HS from July 3rd to Aug-5th is this correct? Because I was under the impression that it wasn't that it was maybe in reference to the main gate passes that we get. Any help would be greatly appreciated in clarifying! Thanks guys!

From my understanding and what i remember, Blackout dates refer to dates you cannot bring others into the parks with you, make dining reservations, or rent hotel rooms. You yourself should be allowed in all parks during regular ticketing times (not hard ticket events) the entire time you work there.

I agree with Brent13. From what I remember, CMs are allowed to use their IDs to get into any of the parks on any day during normal hours. The blackout days are only to use your main gate pass to get others into the parks. I know I was able to use my ID to get into EPCOT on New Years Eve. I think the only time they stop letting cast members into the parks is when the park fills to capacity. I know also that on really busy days, like holidays you have to actually go into the park using the turnstile instead of using backstage entrances. I think they want to keep an accurate count of the people in the parks so that they know when it's getting close to capacity.

"rumors" pop up all the time about CM blackout days... if there were really blackout days they'd be on the hub - they're not.

You can get in 365 days a year, but like PP said, go through the front turnstiles and you can't get in when they're full.

Also... DHS is only blocked July 3-5, not through August.

Went into Epcot yesterday with DD who is a CP. The ticket we got said 1 day readmission EPCOT/Animal Kingdom, so you cannot hop to a blackout park, like MK or DHS even if you have a ticket, fyi. DD said she was told she was NOT allowed to use ID to get into MK on the 4th.

My husband (CM) used his ID to get in yesterday (the 4th) through the main turnstiles at MK. No problems. CMs were not blocked from any parks.

My daughter used her CM ID to get in on the 4th as well.

Thanks! I'll let her know she can get in next time! We err on the side of caution to avoid any problems.

Like others have said, CMs can get in for free. However, the Maingate (the pass used to get guests in for free) has blackout dates. The dates include the week between Christmas and New Years, July at the MK, and so on.
