My mom said she had heard that Black Friday wasn't going to start 'til 6 in the morning this year. Is this a country-wide thing, or maybe just here in Maine? Something about it not being worthwhile to open that early? :confused3

I doubt it, but its okay with me if everyone else believes it...so if it isn't...shhhhhhhh....more doorbusters for me :goodvibes

Target here has never opened before 6 am. I know Wal-Mart, Sears, Meijers, Kohl's and JCP opened earlier, the last couple of years, but we have never gone. Target is always our 1st stop.

Hmm.. I haven't heard this yet. I certainly hope not! I'm one of those crazy Black Friday shoppers who are up by 4am and rearing to go!

That would be fine with me. 4am comes too early.

me too!!!

It depends on the store. I just hope that people are not trampled this yr.:sad2:

Unfortunately, my bets are on the odds that it will happen -- if not for getting there early for someone trying to get the "hot" toy of the season. Seems it happens every year.

I would think it could depend on the store but it is also possible a state could have enacted some sort of laws regarding it for public safety reasons.

We so rarely go to them since 90% of the time the stuff the put on doorbusters isn't even stuff I want & I really don't feel like risking my life to save a few dollars. That's DH's job.:rotfl: If there is something he *really* wants, he gets up and goes to get it. I think it's only happened once for a DVD player.

6:00 a.m. seems late for some stores at least here in New York. I was on the gottadeal. com BF website and they were talking that some would open earlier then 6:00.

I believe just Target opened at 6:00. The line would got really long about 5:30 with the shoppers that were already at best Buy, Kohls, Walmart & J.C. Penney. A few opened at 4:00 last year!

Target really doesn't do a "blackfriday" kind of thing no door busters- so really it's just a stop at the end for me. Or am I missing something??

This year we'll have a BEST BUY! First time for that store here and I'm guessing it'll be packed. I was hearing some stores would open at midnight!! Which I think would make it worse. I think it's harder for people to get up early vs. just stay up.

I generally get in a line at around 5. And I'm middle of the line. It depends what's on sale this year.

I thought it depended on the town. Usually its up to the fire marshall when stores can be open on holidays, so I assumed the same for Black Friday.

Your correct that Target doesn't advertise "door busters" but a lot of their really low priced items are limited quanities. So, while it's not in print as a "door buster", if you don't get there early, you won't get one.

4 years ago is the first time we went early. Target had a digital camera DH wanted to get me. Luckily, we got in line at the right time. By the time DH got back to electronics, they only had 6 of the 20 they had in stock left. He got a laugh, as it was so crowded, the sales people were litterly standing on stool, yelling asking who was there for what and if you weren't right at the counter, and it was small enought they would toss it to you.

As I will be a WDW this year for the first time, I'm getting up in time for rope drop at MK. That's sleeping late for you guys!! :goodvibes

Good luck with those deals!! :thumbsup2

my favorite website for black friday:

http://bfads.net/Adscans

They regularly get in trouble for posting scans of leaked Black Friday Ads, but it is great for those of us trying to see if there is anything worth getting up for.

You can sign up to be on their e-mail list and they notify you when they get new ads.

Theres a mall near me that opens at Midnight on Black Friday (really Thankgiving night). DH went last year just to see, and he said it was CRAZY how many people where there. Maybe I'll go this year.... or maybe I'll get some sleep....

Only suckers go to the stores, the best deals are usually online now and days, a lot easier to wake up and go to the computer. Amazon alone was amazing last year.

Last year I was handed a Tote ($40) and a quilted pad and pen set from Vera Bradley- Just from walking in the door- no purchase necessary!
For me that was worth it.

I don't do the early morning BF anymore. Just not worth it to me.

my DBIL calls it "Death-Mart"... (after the horrible incident last year) (I still can't understand how people don't know they are trampling over someone, and don't have enough sense to stop and help the person up).. In anycase... it's sad, but I'm there every year!.... My mom and I are up and out 1st thing, and leave the kiddies home. (with grandpop_ ) get the major stuff out of the way, and then we'll go home and have breakfast before we go out for the rest of the day!... Its our marathon shopping day, but we always have fond memories... The ironic part is... I probably return about 75% of the stuff I buy on black friday after I find something better or the same thing on sale in the following weeks... Anyone else do the same? Can't help it. I'm a bargin hunter!:confused3
