I know Black Friday can be crazy and hectic but please remember to be nice to your cashiers! There's a lot of us who got hired specifically for the holidays and tomorrow may be our first day. Most of us are also working 7 or 8 hour shifts, starting much sooner than we'd like :lmao: A little patience and a nice smile can go a long way to making us feel better and more comfortable with our jobs, which will turn into a better experience for you. I promise most of us want to get you through the checkout process as quickly as possible!

And have a happy Thanksgiving everyone :goodvibes

Hope you have a good day!

I think the world would be a better place if everyone was required to work retail and in a restaurant for a short period of time! I know my stints when I was younger have made me be a lot more patient and understanding compared to others I've seen getting angry in certain situations.

Well said. It would be nice if everyone could remember this.

I hope you have a great day. Happy Thanksgiving!!

I was going to say the same thing! I worked 5 yrs retail and 5 yrs fast food. I think everyone should work both at some time in their lives. They truly would have a more open mind into how things work and how easily things can go haywire! While I loved retail, the holidays were one of things I voluntered to work the early shift because I did NOT want to clean up that mess! So just bear that in mind too. The few minutes you take to destroy a display shopping takes hours at night to clean up when the workers are ready to go home to their families! Just have fun and be safe!

You will do great!! Just remember it is a computer and things that go wrong can be corrected. I worked in retail for 8 yrs and everyone is nervous. Keep a smile and dont let those that are grumpy get you down. While they are spending you are earning money. Thats how I looked at working on holidays. I am rooting for you. Have a great day tomorrow.

I agree having worked in the industry for over 25 years. People think that store associates are slaves. I can't tell you how many people see you cleaning and will tear a rack up in front of you, or say you should give them discounts because they shop here all the time, or just talk nasty. Life would go smoother if we just all could be nice. :flower3:

I'm working in customer service right now so I understand! A little kindness and patience goes a long way.

i never understood why companies put new employees at the register on such a busy day. as a business owner myself, i have every employee fully trained during slower times to avoid any headaches for my clients

I used to work in retail, and kindness goes a long way. :thumbsup2

Good luck to you and to all the others working tomorrow! It is amazing how easy it is to forget that the people around us in all service industries are deep down only people and have their frustrations, same as shoppers. It is not the cashier's fault that there are lines, or computer glitches! Please let's hope the thanksgiving spirit can remain with us throughout the hectic shopping season.

Good luck everyone! I wish I could join you but there is no 'black Friday' here. I will be watching on my news this evening!:happytv:

Count me as another who thinks that everyone should work in retail at least once in their lives, and bonus points to those who do so during the holidays! I've been there and make sure to try to always be patient with cashiers, especially when you're following a rude guest.

im a manager at a huge retail store, black friday is one of my favorite days of the year, you really get to see the best and the worst of people. most of the time people are nice, but the few that arent really stick out.
ive been cussed out(every year), spit at, and even hit by a little old lady.
so, have fun, dont FLIP OUT when the store runs out of something, remember, you arent the only one looking for THAT item.

::thumbsup2 Exactly. Some employees in stores catch me fronting shelves while I'm browsing. I just tell them I use to work retail. They nod. It's funny how I do this in the grocery store as I'm picking up items.

Kindness is wonderful on such a busy day! One thing I loved about a busy day was that it went much faster and I hope it's that way for you.
