Black Friday discount at Woodfield Mall, IL

Does the gift card incentive still apply too?

I asked and was told no, the gift card incentive does not apply with the 10%.

If you are planning on going to Woodfield this weekend, make sure you allow a lot of time to get there and to park (even if you are using valet). Traffic at Woodfield will be crazy.

I would love to jump on this deal as well! My guide is actually out of the Chicago office, and it would be nice to meet her. However, with that being Thanksgiving weekend, a 7 hour drive and going to WDW the following weekend, I just don't see it working out!

I would love to buy this weekend. I have a Dec UY, so if I got the $97 per point price (i think it come out to $97.40), and I got '09 points plus 100 more for '10 in under a week... it would be well worth it!

It is worth a call to ask. I strongly disagree with this promotion only being offered to those that have the location advantage close to the stores. Yes we all have the opportunity to possibly get on a plane or drive for 14 hours each way, but that is unrealistic, especially for a holiday weekend on such short notice.

I have sent off an email to a manager at the NY store, waiting for their response.

I feel the same way, that you should be able to get this discount through your guide. For $97.00 a point with discount and 10% off I would consider a 100 pt add on. That is really a good price. But I am right in the middle of Texas :confused3 no where near a sales center.Oh well

Keep us posted. Also not near a store. . . This seems like a good deal. It is also for first-time buyers, no? We were at WDW last week and took a tour there. Were not offered this price.

I just spoke with my guide, Michele. She said she agrees it is unfair but they are not able to get the same deal as the Sales centers. Oh well, what can you do ?

Happy early Thanksgiving Everyone :lovestruc

We're not looking at adding anything right now, but I've read through this thread twice and am personally on the fence on both sides of the concern here, understanding and agreeing with both DVC's perspective and that of the too-far-away-to-capitalize-on-the-offer potential buyers. On one hand I think it's pretty cool that DVC is getting in on the Black Friday act, especially after reading last week that the company's profits are down over last year... a little way to boost the situation before the end of their 1Q next month. Like many retail stores, you have to go in to get the deal. A bummer for those not near either Doorway location yeah. I get that. That's pretty normal stuff. BUT on the other hand I also think that if there are motivated buyers out there (and from some of the posts on this thread it appears there are at least a few), then it seems odd that DVC would turn their back on those sales since an extra sale at a discounted price is better than no sale at all, especially when it's something like this particular product just sitting there nice and pretty ready for someone to come along and buy so that Member Services can transfer some numbers from one central pool into an individual member's account - with no real labor involved but a little bit of time on the phone or computer and drafting up some documents. Fascinating stuff. I'm curious to read how it turns out for Havana in trying to contact a manager.

There are prior "Exclusive" deals that have been offered currently and in the past. For example, there are always special discounts offered to those who are sailing on the Disney Cruise ships. There have also been deals offered to those buying onsite at Disneyland, as well as the webcast deals.

It may not seem fair to some, but this is how DVC has chosen to make some exclusive offers. Anyone is welcome to travel to the locations - and if it is enough of a savings, it can be worthwhile to do so.

I agree with Carol, the incentives offered on the DCL is not available to everyone.

True. And let's be honest, the purpose of those deals are to lock-in the impulse purchase before you over think it. While you have 10-days under Florida law to rescind, the purchase decision made quickly in the moment likely doesn't often get rescinded via that methodolgy (many people probably don't even realize they can).

It's somewhat similar to the "what do I have to do to get you in that car today" approach.

Many door buster deals aren't available on the retailers web page either.

DVC has two Retail locations. They are not the typical retail store. That is my main problem with this being a retail only promotion. Yes, I can get in my car and drive for 14 hours each way if I really wanted to. Is it worth it for me to do that with the extra savings? Honestly, No.

What if all of the appointment times are taken up? Are those people that wanted appointments out of luck? Will DVC take their order anyway?

I would imagine it is an "all hands on deck day" for DVC employees in the Doorway to Dreams locations. They can accommodate an awful lot of people over three full days, so I can't imagine that they don't have appointment times available. I would speculate that if you arrive at the location, you will have the promotion price honored for you. :)

I wonder if someone had a close friend or relative in the Chicago or NY area, if a power of attorney could be used to make the purchase.

I visited the Woodfield store today and made an appointment for Sunday.
In speaking with a guide, they still do not have all the details of how this Black Friday incentive is going to work. They are awaiting details from Florida too.

If I were to add on at my home resort, SS, I can go resale and get a 100 pt. contract for between $64 and $68 per point with the same use year. That would be a difference of close to $3,000 in my favor compared to the Black Friday Sale that DVC is promoting. So, why would I want to go through DVC for an add-on contract?

I agree with what you say in regard to SSR. I wouldn't buy through Disney either. But for BLT at $97.20 a pt that is a good deal. :cloud9:

I agree BLT is the way to go to take advantage of this sale.
Especially since the price per point will be $130 next week.

Having purchased both Disney direct and resale contracts myself, I see value in both venues.

But, for those purchasing via DVC - and we all know why folks do this, for example their easy financing, Bay Lake Tower points, etc., - this really is a fantastic deal.

Believe me, I have tossed around the BLT add on myself here...

I guess it depends on how the rumors about the potential changes about Disney treating resales vs. direct buys pan out. :headache: (and how much those potential changes would impact your vacationing style).
