I never go shopping for the deals on Black Friday & so I've never paid attention to the ads. When are the great deals advertised - in Thursday's newspaper?

Lets say I want to buy myself, I mean a dear person, a laptop from Circuit City for a really low price. I didn't see any ads in Sunday's paper or on the internet today for Friday's sale. Do I have to wait till Thursday to find out what the stores are having the big sales on?

Is it really worth going out at 3:00 AM & waiting in cold weather, are the savings that big? Do the advertised items go really fast or do most stores seem to stock up? Tell me your experiences.

I don't think it is, but then again that's because I used to BE the person having to go into work at some insane hour just to get ready for those kinds of shoppers.

Sometimes it's worth it, sometimes not.
If it's a GREAT deal, then your best bet is to get there as early as possible. The good stuff goes FAST!!!
Last year was the first time I'd ever camped out for a great deal.
In an attempt to get a laptop for $250, we got to Best Buy at 7pm on Thanksgiving. We were too late. The line was already about 75 people deep. So since Office Depot had a similar deal on a similar laptop, we decided to try there. We arrived at about 8pm, and there was only one other person waiting. He was there for something different, so we knew we were first in line for the laptops. The store said they would have a minimum of 8 laptops, and by 1am, there were already 20 people in line for the laptop. By 3 am, there were probably 75-100 people in line. The store ended up having 15 laptops, so there were enough for most of the early people. But there were a lot of disappionted people. I was glad that we got there early and camped out. It was worth it for sure.

So far, I don't see anything really worth camping out for. I'll probably hit the stores when they open on Friday to see if there's anything left, but I won't camp out.

Depends on the price and the item. Last year I stood in line for a camera that I just love. I paid $79.99 for it and for the rest of the season the sale price on the same camera was double that.

Have fun, stay warm

I've been using this site: http://www.blackfriday.info/. It has a ton of ads posted for Friday, including Best Buy and Circuit City. If you plan on going to Best Buy then it's definitely worth getting up early to get in line for the big ticket items. They go FAST. I know our local BB ran out of a lot of bigger things (computer monitors, TVs, etc...) that were door busters.

Have a Happy Thanksgiving and a fun Black Friday!

One year I wanted to get my DS a computer. I found a great deal on-line from Best Buy - Thanksgiving morning. Take a look and see what you can find before going out to shop. I do most of my shopping from home- many sites have free shipping too.

This is my first BF too. I'm hitting Kohls (something for me) and Target (about 1/3 my gift list). The trouble is, I don't know how early to get there. Kohl's opens at 4 AM, I can't imagine there would be a line that early, but what do I know. I only need one thing from kohl's, and target doesn't open until 6. Should I go straight to Target and get in line? I have no idea if the things I want from Target are "hot" items and will sell out quickly or if I'm okay if I stroll in a few minutes after opening.

Cyber Monday...THE Monday AFTER Thanksgiving is GREAT for Online shopping too.

Last year I got purchased Sirius STILLETOS RADIOS FOR 49.00! They are usually around 200.00
Also Disneystore.com...had unbelivable deals. Dont remeber what I bought, but I remeber 2 huge boxes (free shipping) came with loads of presents for about 100 bucks.:thumbsup2
