Black Friday ads leaked! News on Sears, CVS, Walgreens, Ralph Lauren and more
Josh Smith

After a month filled with more financial turmoil than most of us can stomach, there is good news at the end of the tunnel: The first batch of Black Friday ads have begun to surface. In spite of -- and likely because of --the dour retail predictions extending through the third quarter of next year, retailers are cutting prices to coax consumers into their stores. Remember, you can keep track on our running scorecard of Black Friday deals and discounts.

Let's jump right into the leaked ads!

Sears

Sears is the first department store to have a leaked ad this year but the prices for HDTVs and GPS units are much higher than we expected. Thankfully I don't see Sears setting the bar for HDTV prices this season. Dan de Grandpre from Dealnews.com also weighed in on the rumored sales prices for us, stating, "Sears, which is struggling, has been irrelevant to most tech buyers since the 1980s. In fact, many of its purported Black Friday TV "deals" are the same as or higher than prices you'd find on a comparison engine like PriceGrabber."

That said, don't count Sears out of your Black Friday plans completely; Dan recommends Sears for shoppers interested in Kenmore home appliances and Craftsman tools. The leaked ad has great deals on a kitchenware set, several craftsman tools as well as incredible discounts on Kenmore washers and dryers; in fact too many to list here, so go look for yourself!

The Sears ad comes on the heels of Ace Hardware's leaked ad which has been pulled until a final version is released. It appears Sears may be going the same route. According to Dan, Sears is already working on pulling this ad from many sites as they say it doesn't represent their Black Friday offerings. This is one of the reasons why Dealnews.com doesn't post leaked ads. Let's hope Sears takes this ad back to the drawing board and starts cutting prices across the board.

What other stores have been leaked?
Polo Ralph Lauren
One Black Friday offer which has been confirmed by the Dealnews.com staff is a 20 % off promotion for Polo Ralph Lauren Factory stores. These stores carry a collection of overstock, discontinued and other discount lines of clothing at lower prices. For full details on the Midnight Madness sale at Polo Ralph Lauren check out Dealnews.com.

CVS
The flyer from CVS hasn't leaked out yet, but thanks to some loose-lipped employees we have an idea of the chain's Black Friday offers. The best deals at CVS will focus on Extra Care Bucks (ECB) which make many of the items free after rebate. All of the following items are expected to be free after an ECB rebate:

Crock Pot
Rice cooker
Griddle
Popcorn maker
Waffle maker
For more CVS deals and information on CVS' Extra Care Bucks rebates visit slickdeals.net.

Walgreens
So far the Walgreens' ad doesn't offer up much in the way of great deals but there are a few gems hidden in the leaked details. The best deals at Walgreens this Black Friday focus on personal grooming, items which make excellent gifts. My top picks for gifts are body butter for $1.99 and the Norelco Razor at half price. The list is rather short so don't be surprised if more deals come to light as Black Friday gets closer.

Harbor Freight
"America's Favorite Tool Store" has shared its ad with gottadeal.com and it shouldn't come as a surprise that it is filled with discounts on all kinds of tools. There don't appear to be any noteworthy price drops on specific items, but if you are buying in bulk there looks to be significant savings. Small Business owners and hardcore DIY'ers should check out the full ad for money saving deals.

Half Price Books
Half Price Books may be the most exciting so far this year. To start off Black Friday Half Price Books is offering 20% off any purchase on top of handing out $5 gift cards, tote bags and 2009 calendars. Finally, any purchase over $30 will net you a $5 t-shirt which proudly proclaims, "Books, read the movie!". These are some excellent deals from a retailer whose prices are already low to begin with. Let's hope this ad sets the tone for other retailers on the March to Black Friday.

There you have it! The first of many leaked Black Friday ads to come and the starting point for your Black Friday planning. Black Friday is less than a month away and we expect to see ads filled with bargians and doorbusters from retailers such as Best Buy and Walmart leakign within the next few weeks. Stay tuned to WalletPop's Black Friday coverage as we continue to bring you up to date deals and tips for making the most of your Black Friday shopping trip.

Babies R Us
On the heels of Toys R Us releasing its big toy book, its little sibling has released a discount book of its own. The catalog breaks down baby gear by price category -- with the focus on value items in the $10, $15, $20 and $25 categories. There's also a pull-out coupon book that the company tallies up at $395 worth of savings. The deals include 15% off diaper bags, various toys, bottles and feeding accessories and other baby must-haves, all the way up to $250 off furniture suites.

Just saw the commercial for dell, and found this info

Last week, it launched a new site designed specifically for holiday shopping, gathering all the consumer products it sells in one spot. The site www.dell.com/everyday will feature a daily deal throughout the holiday season to entice shoppers. And once there, those folks can sign up to receive alerts on new deals, advice or other options.

I was at target yesterday and they had the coupon book in the toy isle.

Thanks for the reminder about this. I got one last year, and used some of the coupons. I was just at Target yesterday and in their toy isle, I didn't see a book, but also wasn't looking for one. I will have to look next time I am there.

Do you know if they mail this to you, or does it come in the newspaper? Or can you only get it at Target?

Any idea how I'd get my hands on one of these books??? We have friends who are adpoting right after Christmas and it'll save me a bunch if I'm able to use some coupons and get them some nice stuff!

I was at target yesterday and they had the coupon book in the toy isle.

I'm heading over there on my lunch today-I'll have to look and see if this is out here yet. I printed some off but you can never have too many coupons! :goodvibes

For those interested, I got the "Circle of Friends" email from Gymboree and it will give you 30% the entire store. I can forward the email to anyone interested. Also, if you shop online you just use the code. I can PM it to anyone interested. I don't have the email in front of me (it's on my yahoo email and that is blocked here at work) but I "think" the date for the sale to begin in Thursday. I'll post more info later when I get home! :cool1:

Walmart Backs Main Street With Thousands of Rollbacks and Millions in Holiday Savings
Thursday November 6, 7:19 am ET

Retailer aims to cut the cost of Christmas with deeper values for customers, Foundation increases support for community organizations

BENTONVILLE, Ark., Nov. 6 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- Walmart today announced initiatives specifically targeting the needs of American families and communities over the next seven weeks. Walmart vows to lead on delivering a Christmas that costs less, with targeted week-to-week savings and thousands of Rollbacks. Operation Main Street also includes initiatives that reach beyond shopping carts by lending a helping hand to community organizations hit especially hard in tough economic times.

Over the next seven weeks, the retailer anticipates saving consumers an additional $200 million over and above its every day low prices. Each week new savings will be introduced as the retailer keeps particular focus on the prices of items families want and need most.

"In challenging times, our customers look to Walmart to be their advocate and do what we do best -- save them money," said Eduardo Castro-Wright, Walmart U.S. president and CEO. "Families trust us and our customers will be amazed at the depth of the savings."

Thousands of Rollbacks Storewide

With savings on thousands of items on Rollback, Walmart 's strategy is simple -- to provide customers with savings that matter on the dinner table and under the tree. From health to home, examples of these new savings across the store include:

-- Toys: Additional Rollbacks to $10 include classic family board games like Battleship (was $14.38) and the Littlest Pet Shop Play Pack (was $11.88). The savings don't stop with $10 toys, as there are hundreds of additional new Rollbacks in the toy aisle.

-- Home: GE 12-cup coffee maker and 14-speed blender (were $29.88, now $24).

-- Electronics: Magnavox Blu-ray player (was $229, now $198).

-- Grocery: Betty Crocker potatoes (was $1.48-$1.58, now 98 cents); 48- oz. Crisco vegetable oil (was $3.88, now $2.98).

-- Health: Airborne tablets (was $5.97, now $4.92).

November 8 One-Day Savings

To kick off seven weeks of additional savings this Christmas season, and because electronics are high on holiday shopping lists,* Walmart is launching one-day savings this Saturday, Nov. 8, including these items:

-- Sony 2GB Walkman MP3 player at $49.**

-- $298 Compaq CQ-139WM 15.4" laptop with 2GB RAM and 160GB hard drive.**

-- $100 Walmart Gift Card with a $399 Sony PlayStation 3 or a $30 Walmart Gift Card with $129 Sony PlayStation 2.

-- Video games at $19.82 including Warhawk, Resistance and MotorStorm.

To keep shoppers informed of special weekly holiday savings at the press of a button, Walmart has also launched a "Savings Alert" mobile service to give them all-the-time access and weekly notifications about these savings. Customers can sign up at http://www.walmart.com/mobileinfo or by dialing #WMT from any cell phone. Customers can also visit Walmart.com to view all of the Nov. 8 One-Day Savings items.

More Savings with Free Shipping

To help customers save even more, Walmart.com has extended its Site to Store order cut-off date by seven days (through Dec. 17). The popular Site to Store service provides free shipping of online orders to local Walmart stores, and the retailer expects to save customers more than $40 million in shipping fees this Christmas season. More information is available at http://www.walmart.com/sitetostore.

Wal-Mart Foundation Supports Communities

Operation Main Street will ensure Walmart stands shoulder-to-shoulder with its community partners with a commitment to helping Americans hit hardest by tough economic times. Focused on immediate needs, the Wal-Mart Foundation will give more than $20 million combined to local community organization over the next seven weeks.

Today, the Wal-Mart Foundation also announced a $1.25 million grant to The Salvation Army. Red Kettles will, once again, be invited in front of Walmart stores and Sam's Club locations from Friday, Nov. 28 through Wednesday, Dec. 24. And this year, the Wal-Mart Foundation will invite customers to give early -- and throughout the season -- by hosting The Salvation Army bell ringers and Red Kettles for a special day of giving on Saturday, Nov. 8.
