Black Friday 2013 Thread?

I refuse to shop on Thanksgiving because I think everyone deserves time with their family on that day. :stir:

On Black Friday I'll be hitting JoAnns for bolts of flannel, Michaels for storage containers, and I'm hoping that some place will have a SodaStream or similar for a great price.

Last year I got a great little crockpot from Target on Saturday.

For me, Black Friday isn't really about the sales. I'm not one of those on line outside in the cold hoping for a bargain on a TV.

It's all about the fun for me. I'm out at 4 am, doing my Christmas shopping. The prices tend to be good, the crazy crowds tend to be gone (or not there yet) when I hit the stores... the shelves are normally being restocked as I shop after the midnight madness. I have no timeline; my husband and kids know not to expect me until I get home. STill, the excitement in the air is palpable.

I really get a kick out of it!!

This is my approach for sure. I tend to leave the house around 6. I have hopes, but not needs. Anything I can get at a big discount is great, but there is nothing I can't live without. I have so much fun doing it.

The only bummer is that I can never get someone to come with me. The day has such a bad rep friends and family think I'm nuts.

Just saw the TRU ad is up! Skylanders Swap force is 37.98! YES!!! I didn't get past the first page, had to pop on to the DIS to see if it had been announced! Back to peruse the rest....

I am disapointed Toys R Us is opening at 5 pm on Thanksgiving Day and of course the Disney Infanity set is on sale starting at 5 (in stores only) for 50% off, which is on my son's list. Oh well I guess I will buy it at Target using my red card and the $5 off coupon in the toy catalog. I will also keep an eye on Amazon just in case they have a sale as well.

theblackfriday.com also had it up. I imagine the Skylanders deal will be available at the other big box retailers as well as Amazon. I was just looking for that price point. I am not crazy enough to face the TRU BF crowd! We just got a new Walmart about 3 miles from us. It's fairly rural out here, so if I don't do Amazon, I'll probably just go there. The only thing TRU has going for them over the others would be the $10 gift card with $75 purchase.

I have to say I'm surprised at the lack of showing from Disney this year. Seems that in years past, there were several pages devoted to Princesses, Cars, ToyStory, etc. I could probably get a better deal right now on those things, and they have a $10 GC with $50 purchase this week. Hmmmmm.....

I so hope Amazon, Target or Walmart have the same price online for Swap Force. I may have to go to TRU Thanksgiving night though to get the Disney movies I want. I don't mind going out that night, I just don't want to go to TRU.

I hope some of the other stores have Disney Infinity for around the same price. I really, really want it for ME but won't spend too much for it. DD9 has said she will play it with me but it isn't something she really wants.

We usually head to the movies Thanksgiving night if there is something good out. It looks like we will go see Frozen this year and since our movie theater is right above Target it works out well to go there.

I'm also hoping for a decent gift card amount with the purchase of an i-pod nano for DD and maybe the Ipad mini for me.(A Christmas present to myself since I am stuck working both Christmas eve and Christmas day this year:()

We too plan to go see Frozen on Thanksgiving. Not seeing much of our family other than who we live with so will eat then go see a movie.

Also to those asking, I rely on bfads website for my ad scans!

BF is going to be a sad day this year :( it's the day we fly home from WDW. So our trip ends and I'll be in the airport half the day so that means no shopping for me! Hopefully I can find some good deal Cyber Monday ;)

Ok, dumb question--

Places like Belks are planning an 8 pm on Thanksgiving start to their sales. So, they will be open all night?

I don't plan to even attempt TRU at 5 pm even though there are a couple of things I would love to get for the dgds. I would just rather spend the time WITH them rather than shopping for them.

Going to see Frozen sounds like a great idea.

:bday:It's Ds 8th birthday so I'm staying home until he is in bed. Then I am going to see if any deals are left:cool1:

Shoe Carnival has riding boots for 19.98! My DD14 will be so excited. They open on Thursday at 6pm so I will be sending DH with a picture so he gets the right one. LOL

I am glad I saw Infinity at TRU for $37.xx!! I am definitely going to attempt that place on Thanksgiving Night! I don't have plans for Turkey Day, so this works out great!! I hope I get one...nevermind my kids, I want it!!! LOL

Just saw on Today Show about Black Friday shopping AND the deals shopping on Thanksgiving Day. They said deals are better on Thanksgiving Day but I'm not sure how I feel about shopping on that day. This is what they had on air:

1. Cashmere sweater at Macy's $39.99
2. Diamond stud earrings at Macy's (don't remember price)
3. Martha Stewart cast iron cooking (set of three)
4. Leapster at Toys R Us $29.99

I am waiting for the ShopKo and Fleet Farm ads...but purely for selfish reasons...DS does local modeling locally, and will be in both of those ads!

Gamestop has their ad posted (should say it was leaked) and there are some good game prices. Anyone every go there on BF, is it super crazy?

No laughing but I am excited that PetSmart is giving free stocking with treats and coupons away to first 100 customers. They dont' open til 7AM on Friday so I will be stopping there to pick up some deals for my furbaby Bella the Black Lab. :rotfl2:

There BF add was recently posted.
