Black Dress ??

I know this may sound off the wall to some of you guys out there but I have been toying with the idea of wearing a black dress to my vow renewal. I know its not traditional but what the heck, I think it is the color I look best in and it is a formal occasion, so I was wondering if anyone had any recommendations or know where I can begin to look for my "big black dress"

I think that you should wear whatever you're going to be comfortable in! Whether it's white or black or orange or neon green, it's YOUR vow renewal! Black dresses are really classy and sophisticated looking anyway, so I think it'll be really nice either way! And since it's a VR, you've probably already had your big white traditional dress for your wedding, so why not change it up? Go for it!

You should TOTALLY do it! I look so much better in black than white, but I chickened out and went traditional.

Let's see... I guess you could start in the evening wear department of your local department store. What I would do, since a regular wedding dress costs so much anyway, is take that money and buy an Oscar-worthy designer dress! (Well, OK, maybe those are a leetle bit more than something from David's ).

I was just looking at bridesmaids dresses and thought of you: I know David's Bridal (as do many others, I'm sure) have them in black. If you wanted, you could try to find one you like that way. Some of them are really nice.

these are my bridesmaid dresses, it has a pick up skirt and comes in black as well...it's from davids and it was only like $200...

also, you could check out places that sell prom/homecoming dresses, i bet they would have at least something in black! good luck! i'm sure with the holidays quickly approaching you'll find something!!!

thank you for you thoughts and the support, I know alot of people may think Im nuts but I really feel like this vow renewal is for me and my hubby and I should do what feels right.

I am really psyched, I am hoping to find a black ball gown.

Caryndisneydiva: the bridesmaids dress looks great, do you know if it is being shown with a crinoline underneath??

I am Caryn's sister. The dress doesn't have a crinoline underneath, but it does have a tulle poufy thing that makes it fuller at the bottom. It's really nice and comfortable. I also wanted to mention that Sarah Jessica Parker wore a black dress to her wedding and it looked great!!

Here's another link to an ebay shop that will make it in any color/size you need. They are overseas, and it takes about 45 days (it seems by the feedback) to get the dress and shipping is a little pricey...BUT, I like the options there.
