BL 3 - Red Team week 5

Good afternoon, TEAM. To answer yesterday's question, I want to look and feel better. When I lost almost 40 lbs a few years ago, I felt great. I want that again. :goodvibes That and I want to be able to have a picture taken of me, where I don't feel compelled to stick one of my kids in front of me to hide my size. :sad1: I absolutely hate going shopping for clothes ... my waist is not proportional to my large butt, so it's very difficult to find clothes that fit. I still had the same problem when I lost the weight, but I looked much better wearing a belt and tucking in shirts when I was thinner.

When I do the Disney 1/2 in 2010 ... I'm going to look awesome in my shorts crossing the finish line. :thumbsup2

Today's question ... I was born, raised, and still live in London ONTARIO. :)

Attention Red Team!!

Here are our weekly stats versus the other teams:

Red Team / Blue Team / Black Team
members / 37 / 36 / 33
not reporting / 6 / 11 / 8
no change / 7 / 2 / 6
gains / 6 / 2 / 4
losses / 18 / 22 / 15
pounds lost / -37.9 / -41.1 / -18.9

That chart certainly did not turn out as purdy as I had hoped. I will try to do better next week. It will take me forever and a day to figure out how to fix it and I need to get this info out to you since I am late again. Last week we had 24 losers that lost 32.3 pounds this week is an improvement.

At this time I would like to announce the top six Red Team Losers for week four

(drum roll please)

#6 mom2alix (Rebecca) 1.244 %
#5 tmeyer (Thresa) 1.339 %
#4 lil mermaid (Laurel) 1.478 %
#3 bridgetgabbie (Robin) 1.735 %
#2 rentayenta (Jenny) 2.287 %

And the Red Team week 2 Biggest Loser is ....
pyrateswife (Lisa) 6.977 %

I do need to mention that this is a two week loss for Lisa with one week spent in the hospital with viral & bacterial pneumonia. She is now recovering at home and is still losing!!

Week 4 WISH Biggest Loser challenge team results

#1 The Blue Team 0.68%

To beat them we would have had to lose an additional 6 pounds!
Yes ONLY 6 pounds!

#2 The Red Team 0.603 %

#3 The Black Team 0.355 %

#2 Weekly Team Challenge Results

#1 The blue team with 535 points 18 participating, 21 not participating

#3 The Black Team with 225 points 11 participating, 22 not participating

So that is our week. #2 is Great on the weigh in and the challenge. I'm sorry though but we do need to remove our weekly team challenge winner clippies now. I know we can take it back next week with the help of everyone. I need to hurry and finish this up for you to enjoy.

Great job Red Team!!

Well, I for one am pretty impressed with our weight loss total for the team. I think we are doing great even if we haven't finished in first place yet!

LET'S GO RED TEAM!

WE CAN DO IT!
Now after all that, I have to report that I went to my weekly weigh in at Weight Watchers and I am down 15.8 pounds!:woohoo: :woohoo: I still have a long way to go but that first 20 off is getting closer and closer!

Sure, all you need is one of those $9 Spirit fares - and while you are down, You can come visit Amy, Diana and Jeff and get more points! :teeth:

-Cheryl

Hey Cheryl, how about if I come to FL and meet you at Disney. We can stay somewhere where there is a hot tub, I will call you on the phone to plan it, I can clean your house and you can spend time with my girls. We can park at the back of the parking lots of the parks. Just imagine how many points we could get for this challenge. :rotfl: :rotfl2:

*sniff*...but i liked the tean challenge clippie :guilty: ...

Question of the day...

Some 'tweaks' may occur in the weekly team challenge. Keep an eye on the challenge thread because I will be offline for a while this evening. I will post a link later here to let our team know about the changes.

Have a Healthy Day!

Lisa, who is that in your avatar? Is it a singer, another Lisa? I have an idea and am wondering if I'm right.

lol yes Lisa Marie Presley... this sounds stupid, but when I was skinny I got "you look like..blah blah" all the time. so it is a motivator for me.. when I see it , it makes me want to loose weight that much more.. I think she is beautiful.. ... lol

Does parking 3 1/2 blocks away count? Yes. As long as you are walking a longer distance to get to your destination.

Does reading our own books for enjoyment count? For this challenge a trip to the library is required. The trip involves parking and getting into the library, walking in the stacks, seeking and examining new books to enjoy, and also maybe finding something new you never knew was at the library. Reading your own material for pleasure is a wonderful thing and that may be included in a future challenge.

Does quality time with a pet count? Quality time with a pet will not be included in this challenge. To accommodate those with no children in the home we have added something to the challenge. Instead of spending time with a child you may spend "Quality" time with DH, SO, a family member or friend. The focus here is on "Quality" time. Quality time does not equal watching TV or going to a movie. Try something different, a walk together or shopping (only if this is not a regular habit), playing a game, attending en event together, spending time where your can bond and share a special experience together.

It should also be noted with this task there is a 10 point maximum per experience. Example 1 hr experience = 10 points, 1 1/2 hr experience = 10 points (maximum). More experiences can be enjoyed but each will only be worth 10 points maximum for 1 hr.

Please post any other questions on the #3 weekly team challenge thread. Thanks for your hard work to undertake this challenge and develop healthy lifestyle habits. It's always good to get out of comfort zone and try something new or enjoy something we haven't made time to enjoy for a while.

Have a healthy day.

Good morning Red Team. How did yesterday go for you? I am eating better, but not eating right. I am cutting back, but not getting enough fruits and veggies. I will pick up some good stuff at the store today.

Attention Red Team
please check out my previous post about changes to the weekly team challenge. Some of the changes may help you to achieve more this week. Please try to work hard on this challenge, I know the other teams will be and we want to reclaim our first challenge victory. Every point counts and we need you!!

Red Team question of the day

What were your family dynamics growing up and has your childhood affected your current weight?

Me first. I am the oldest of three girls, both my parents were overweight. My sisters and I were always 'chubby'. Growing up meals had lots of starch and always had dessert. My mom was a good cook but never taught me much. I now hate to cook. I have always been the 'big' sister in more ways than one. I am the only one that has had children and all my baby weight has stayed with me and then some. Middle sister lost some serious weight with Nutrisystem once and gained it all back. Last year baby sister had gastric bypass and has lost almost 100 pounds. She's at 150 now and has stalled with her weight loss. She looks great. I know my genes predispose me to be overweight but I know I can work hard to achieve a more healthy weight for me.

Red Team check in and say Hi! today. We want to hear from you. If you don't like todays question tell me about your Disney adventures (Wednesday's question) or where you have lived (Tuesday's question). Let's get chatting to get to know each other and encourage each other.

Have a Healthy Day!

Oh dear...family dynamics when growing up?
I consider not being a healthier weight mostly my problem. I don't think it was the family dynamics alone but mostly my naturally depressive (yet comic) personality. That combined with my relationship with my father and being the youngest in a family of overachievers probably didn't help.

I have a tendency to brood sometimes, and dwell on the past too much. I would rather do my history research and write or be in a play than take walks or be really physically active. I think that state of mind has more to do with my present weight than my childhood. My mother is not overweight, neither was my dad. My two brothers aren't either, but I think my sister & I would both say we could stand to lose a few.

agnes!

I am the oldest in a large family, almost all of us overweight to obese. Mom had gastric bypass done several years ago, lost a person, has put some back on, but still eats poorly and has never exercised it off. Genetically on my Mother's side of the family there are more overweight relatives. I never knew what protein was until the last year or so. I just realized that potatoes turn to sugar. Umm you could say I am very naive, that is being kind, about nutrition. It was not big on the list of things you learn growing up in fact I don't think it was on the list at all. I have been working very hard since August to learn about nutrition and subsequently my 10 yo daughter who is heavy has lost 4 pounds by eating better, healthier, and getting out and walking/jogging with Dad until I can do that with her. This has been a new chapter/learning experience in my life.:goodvibes

Well, in my case it was definately 'adult onset obesity'. Was scrawny as a kid, but a big eater. My mom often suggested I had a hollow leg! But after school, when the office job and a two hour commute on the train started, on came the weight. Mom wasn't overweight (just the opposite, she had trouble putting on weight till after child #4 and middle age). BUT BOTH my grandmothers were barely five feet tall and two hundred pounds, the genitic tendency is sure there. I know 'activity' will be my biggest help in loosing the weight. I keep trying to remember that kid who loved to race (foot and bicycle) and high jump...though there will be no high jumping with nearly 60 year old bones andymore! ;) I wonder if I can start a game of 'tag' at the office today...? :lmao:

family dynamics when growing up?
Well growing up.. my grandparents pretty much raised me. We always had a huge sit down dinner. Hardly ever ate out as a kid, but yet the meals where huge. I was chubby as a kid, then when I was around 18 I was really skinny.. That changed when I had kids. I am the oldest, I have a younger sister who was heavy and dropped all of her weight and she flaunts that in front of me all the time.. One of those who is always looking in the mirror... grrr makes it hard being the point of a lot of her fat jokes, but I guess that makes her feel better about herself. Anyways, I was never taught the importance of a well balanced diet.. What I find funny is like growing up we never drank soda unless it was a night out.. we always had milk with dinner..lol and today I look back and think how did habits change so much.. I hardly ever drink milk anymore.. seems like my biggest downfall for a long time is drinking nothing but soda..(although I cut wayyyyyyy back).. anyways sorry i got OT but this topic just brought so many emotions to the table.. thanks for letting me vent...lol

My entire family is overweight but I hate blaming my weight on my family as I have been up and down with my weight my entire life which means I obviously had the means to be a normal weight I just never followed through. My parents live right next door to us so it is still a struggle as they are both on WW with me and I almost feel as if whenever I am successful my mom is very negative and when I have a gain she cheers. It makes so much sense huh? And my dad tries so hard but as we all know it takes both people to make things successful. I try to hard to get my mom on the right track, I just don't think she will ever want to commit.

Hey Red Team, where are you? Five people answered the question of the day. Wow, not much going on here. Stay tuned for next week, I have some interesting questions planned.

I am getting geared up for a challenging afternoon today. We're having a potluck luncheon at church. I am making a whole lot of stuff hoping it all gets eaten and I only get a bite of my stuff. People at church just inhale food at these things. It can get ugly. The kids all go through the line first unsupervised and load up their plates with junk, half of which they do not eat. This is coming from a mom with no more little ones left at home. I'm sure there were potlucks in the past when my kids did the same thing, although I don't think so.

Off to more cooking, when I am in the mood to cook it's not that bad. It's just that 'What's for dinner' thing everyday that makes me crazy. I am blessed my husband know his way around the kitchen and can fend for himself. I don't know how he can manage to dirty so many dishes when he cooks though. I think it's a man thing. Of course I get to clean up all the mess.

Red Team, are you working on the weekly challenge? We really need your help.

Have a healthy day!

Sorry for not answering the question. Some things I'd rather not discuss.

As for the challenge, I'm trying but its not easy.
