BL 3 - Red Team week 5

My weight actually was very helpful on my last trip to Disney. We went on a last minute trip at the end of August and I was down 40 pounds since I began Weight Watchers. The weight loss combined with being in shape, allowed me to get through the parks much better than in the past. Oh and it was fun wearing a bikini for the first time in public.

Cheryl, Thanks for posting here about your question I don't usually check the challenge thread. I have no idea how to answer your question. I have emailed OhMom and asked her to check the thread to answer the several questions posted there. Keep checking the challenge thread for her answer.

bridgetgabbie(Robin), I am glad you could enjoy the results of your hard work on your last WDW trip. A bikini, you go girl! I see from your ticker you are about 26 pounds from your goal. Does that ticker mean a great big shopping trip when your reach goal? Keep up the great work. You are an inspiration.

Nursejilly(Jill), I hope the sinuses feel better and you get in a wonderful walk this evening. It has really warmed up in Maryland today. The humidity is making the day hot and sticky. I did manage to park in the boonies in the Sam's parking lot today for our challenge. I'm glad your gain is a thing of the past. You are very honest to admit a gain here, when I am not doing well I just disappear and don't post at all until I get my act back together. That is hard to do as team captain so I am trying harder to stay on track. Lose jeans - Great. Keep up the hard work.

bcvprincesses(Ann Marie), I was also surprised with the Red Team's results on BL last night. They sure had the right week to win immunity. I wonder what their losses will look like next week. I'm surprised they have not mentioned that muscle weighs more than fat, so possibly right now they are not losing as much fat as the muscle they are developing. Lose pants are good and you need to feel fabulous about yourself. You are moving onward and downward. That is good. It may be slow, but slow and steady wins the race. Hang in there and I know you will reach your weight loss goals. It will be hard, but it will be worth it, because you are worth it. By the way, what does the bcv stand for? I haven't figured it out yet.

Red team check in and say Hi tonight. I want to hear from you all.

Have a healthy day!

I was surprised too that the red team didn't lose much weight last night on the show. It's a good thing that they had immunity. I was really happy that Julie off of the black team finally had a big loss. I think she lost like 7 pounds - up until last week I think she had only lost 5 pounds total.

On a totally different topic - today I work we had extra catering left over from an event and I really wanted one of the extra sandwiches, but had already eaten lunch. I was about to pick one up when the good angel on my shoulder told me to put it down and keep on walking. You know what - I did! I forgot about it 15 minutes later and wasn't craving it any longer. I saved myself about 400 calories there! Yay!

i've been kind of mia this past week with a big test in my class that i needed study for, but i'm back now.

i did not have time to participate in the team challenge this week because of the exam. i spent every waking hour studying, unfortunately i made a lot of stupid mistakes by not reading the questions properly. live and learn.

i will definitely answer today's question though. my last 2 trips to disney i felt terrible. i was much heavier than i had been previously and felt very uncomfortable in my clothing (especially my trip this past july, nothing worse than feeling fat in the florida heat!). my family is most likely going to hawaii in 2008 and prior to that my boyfriend and i are going to take a quick weekend trip somewhere. i'm sick of not fitting into my clothes properly. although, i feel like i should be since i've lost 6 lbs since i started my weight loss in august, not as great as i could have been, but it's ok.

i was also told by a girl yesterday that i apparently have been getting fatter since the last time she saw me, a week ago (i look exactly the same???). i think she's just being nasty to me because she's mad at a friend of mine. very strange??

i went to the gym to check out the prices and found out that even though i was a member back in june and had to go away for the summer that i would still have to pay enrollment fee?? i'm really annoyed about that since i'm still in their system and they wouldn't have to do anything. i'm going to see what i can do about it. i don't have the money for the enrollment fee and why should i pay twice in 4 months time??

Wanted to share my good news with you guys. I had a follow up measurement with the trainer tonight before my workout (it's been 3 months since we started). I've been kind of disappointed in the weight loss, as you can see from my ticker it's only been about 5 lbs, BUT the measurements show that I have lost 6% of my body fat!!!!!:cool1: :cool1:

The scale may not be moving quickly, but I do know that I'm much stronger and in better shape than when we started. I'm hoping that now that the scale has finally started moving down that it will keep going.

Question of the day.

My last trip to Disney I was actually a little lighter than I am now, maybe about 15 pounds lighter, so the trip was good. Now DH and I are going in April for our "all alone" trip and I want it to be skinnier me going there and maybe look a little bit sexier too! :) There is a little bit of vanity involved, I do want to look good in my clothes, but a lot of it is done for health reasons. There is no way at this weight that I could walk around the parks all day. My feet swell, my knees ache and I huff and puff if we walk fast. I want to enjoy my time at the parks, I want to feel comfortable on the rides and I want to be able to keep up with DH and his fast walking.

Hi Teammates....I'm finally checking our new thread. Man...I wish I had checked out the challenge this morning....wasted a day of parking at the far end of the lot. I'll get that handled the last four work days. And since I leave for lunch, it will be twice a day just at work. Now to remember while I'm doing my errands this weekend. Think I'll put a stickey note in the car to remind myself!

For the question of the day: Yes, I was quite miserable on my last Disney adventure. We did a DIS meet at Disneyland this spring (about 25 of us who are cruising together next year). And I did a lot of park strolling and bench sitting, while friends raced off to other ends of the park for fast passes and squeezing in some thrill rides. Because of joint issues, I passed on some of my favorite rides just because climbing in and out of the ride vehicle would have been painful. So mobillity is my biggest goal for my next WDW adventure in TWO MONTHS. I'm starting my walks so I can build up stamina. We have a Segway tour planned for this trip and while I know I'll be under the weight limit, I'm not so sure about virtually standing still for over an hour! My hip throbs at the thought of it right now. I know carrying less weight will make a big difference too. So I"m GETTING SERIOUS about this....she says trying to convince herself.

Keep plugging away kids....ONWARD & DOWNWARD!

Good morning Red Team. How did yesterday go? I am doing much better. I just wish the scale was more encouraging, but I will hang in there.

Attention Red Team

For the sanity of team captains we have deadlines for reporting. After the deadline there is calculation time before the final announcement is made regarding the scores. Data may be reported to me ANYTIME, even after the deadline. Sometimes the data can still be added to our scores, sometimes it can not.

I need your weight EACH AND EVERY WEEK. PLEASE TRY TO GET YOUR WEIGHT TO ME BY MIDNIGHT EST ON TUESDAY. This saves me many headaches. Tuesday evening I sent out 14 reminder PMs. Wednesday night 7 still waiting PMs were sent out. I know life is busy and we all actually have a real life besides the DIS, but I need your weights Tuesday night Pretty Please.

Please send in your challenge points if you participated in the challenge. EVERY POINT COUNTS! I can not stress that enough. Your points can make the difference to the team. Try to get them in on time, but if they are late report them anyway. They can sometimes still be added to our score and those points may be the difference between a loss and a win.

Okay, enough ranting, I am stepping down off my podium. Most of you reading this are not my problems. We have many team members that I do not think even check in here at all. I am not happy with our dismal post count compared to the blue team, but I can not control that, can I? Some people are posters and some people are lurkers. I am normally a lurker but as team captain I feel an obligation to ramble on here several times a day. I don't know what I can do to encourage team members to post here. I love reading everyone's thoughts and adventures. I feel I am bonding with my team members that post often here.

I have our team stats for the week, but will hold on to them for the official announcement later today (I hope). My numbers have been sent to the other team captains and I am waiting to hear back from them with their numbers.

Red Team question of the day

I only heard about three other Disney adventures. If you missed yesterdays question check it out and add your story. Today's question is a simple one. What state (or province) do you live in? Were you born in a different state? What states have you lived in?

Me first. I was born in Washington, DC. I was raised in Maryland, have always lived there and still live there. I now live about 2 1/2 hours from where I was raised. Mom is still in the same house I was raised in. I live 1/2 hour from the Atlantic Ocean.

Get to work today Red Team. Do your best. Have a plan and work your plan. I know you can do it. We will be victorious in the long run for ourselves and that is what we are doing this for.

Have a healthy day!

Red Team Rocks!

I get emails from SparkPeople.com everyday. It is a free weight loss website. Today was an interesting quiz. Here is the link. I did miserably since I have a bad relationship with food, but I am working on it.

Have a healthy day!

Today's question is a simple one. What state (or province) do you live in? Were you born in a different state? What states have you lived in?

I live in Texas.

I was born in Massachusetts, and lived there until I was 24 and moved just across the border into New Hampshire. Lived in NH until 2002, when DH and I relocated to CA (for his job.) We moved to Texas in November of 2004 (another job relocation.)

Brenda - I promise to be better about posting.

:cheer2: everyone, hope you are having a great week!!

Morning team. I was born and raised in NW Indiana, then moved to Chicago, Illinois right after high school. Let me tell you, the Windy City in the 1970's was a BLAST! :cool1: I moved to Arizona exactly 28 years ago.

Have a good day eveyone and remember to park at back of the lot!

.

born in nyc. moved to new jersey when i was a year old and lived there until i went away to college. for college i moved up to massachusetts and have been here since (5 years ago). my parents will be moving to delaware next week, so i really can't call nj home anymore. :guilty:

Born, raised, and live in MA...although my heart is split 3 ways between Ossipee NH area, coastal Maine, and Main St. MK!:goodvibes

I was born and raised in Michigan where we still are today. I would love to move to Fl so if anyone hears of a Fire Chief's job there let me know.

My dis name bcvprincesses is from Beach Club Villas. When we bought into DVC I wanted a name that went with that. I tried so many names that were already taken. Finally I used princesses for my two dd's. I am not the princess type but my girls sure are.

Dis you know there is a DIS board Spark team? I belong to it and it seems to have a good membership.

Question of the day.

I was born in Cheektowaga, NY (suburb of Buffalo) I have lived in this area all my life. I now live about 15 minutes away from where I grew up.
It is NOT ideally where I want to live, but DH will never move and my Mom is here so here I stay. My sisters both live out of state so I am all Mom has here.

Hey Cheryl, how about if I come to FL and meet you at Disney. We can stay somewhere where there is a hot tub, I will call you on the phone to plan it, I can clean your house and you can spend time with my girls. We can park at the back of the parking lots of the parks. Just imagine how many points we could get for this challenge. :rotfl: :rotfl2:

Now that I'm back from my WDW trip, I'm getting serious about the challenges and such. :) I am from KY, but now live in IN.

I was born and raised in the midwest in both Nebraska and Minnesota. After I graduated college I moved here to Massachusetts where I have lived for almost 5 years now. My parents live here as well so I will always call this place home.
