Bitter people!

That's the really sad part....I think she actually gets off on it!

I just had a nice tall glass of iced tea with plenty of sugar in it!

I'll be as sweet as pie! ;)

Thanks for letting me vent here!

Blondie, I feel for you today. I don't like it when I have to be around people that are putting off negative vibes. I agree with Jason that it's catching because after being with those types of people for a while I leave feeling depressed myself.

Is she new to the company or just new to your office? I just wondered, since you seem to know so much about her - her outlook on life, her attitudes towards others, her daughter's age, etc.

Well I know when I was in training, the trainer and I talked alot. I don't see it as strange at all that Blondie would know a lot about someone she has to spend an entire shift with, and children are usually one of the first subjects that come up.

I guess I misunderstood her original post - I took it to mean that she was just starting the training today, not that today was a continuation of training.

Thanks for clearing that up for me Beauty - your insights are always quite helpful! :D

Well, from a former negative/sarcastic person, perhaps you might just tell her what you think.

I had someone tell me they noticed I was always negative, then they said they know becoming a positive person would be very hard but how about aiming for neutral. Well, that put me back on my heels and I thought a lot about it. They were right and I worked very hard to change my attitude. I really rarely feel negative and when those feelings come on I just "aim for neutral". I have been told I am one of they most pleasant people at my job now.

I got this advice about 15 years ago. Best advice I ever got about myself. ;)

Blondie, it's always so hard working with people like that. I'm dealing with a similar type of person in my long-term subbing job. I just smile a lot and eat a TON of sugar to keep staying sweet!!!:jester:

So how did it go?

I have had to deal with my share of negative people in my work, but I also deal with many wonderful, bright, people who have positive outlooks on life. I like to think the good balance out the bad.... the positive wins over the negative in my book. When I have to face a whole day, or worse, a whole week with the bitter angry ones... I just try to kill em with kindness. It sometimes turns them around, more often than not it irritates them but they have little to complain about, and it makes me feel better anyway.

Just don't get sucked into it... been there, done that, not a pretty picture ;)

It didn't go too bad.....she isn't new to the hospital, just new to my unit. She's worked for the hospital for over 5 years and has quite the reputation for being a negative little witch! Meeting her a few weeks ago during the interview confirmed it.

I think that by being as sweet and positive as I can be makes her all the move negative! You know the kind...no matter how nice you are to them, they still find something at fault! I think these kind of people will never be happy, no matter where they are or what they do. I feel sorry for them.

Life is too short to be that unhappy!

Blondie, I'm so sorry you've got to do this. Good luck dealing with her!

I say you put some Ex-lax in her morning coffee Blondie.. . ;)

:teeth:

LOL Willy!

Hmmm.......not a bad idea!
