Bit dissapointed with attitude at preview centre.

Guides do work on commission. They have a base salary but they also are commissioned and have quotas that they must meet.
Interesting. I do believe you, however my last two guides told me otherwise. They said there is an incentive to sell, but their salary was not based on commission. They both touted this as a main reason DVC guides are not pushy when it comes to sales.
They certainly denied having quotas.

Who knows?.. Perhaps that's just what they tell the public.. :smokin:

I think it might have something to do with 2 guides. We went on the tour in May of 2004. We bought then and there, but cancelled the sale when we returned home. We looked up resales, found this board, and purchased 210 pts at OKW for about the same as 160 pts. at SSR. When we went to add on at AKV this year, we had to go through the same guide, Linda, that took us on the tour originally. Once you have a guide, I think they "own" your business. That is probably why they didn't want a guide to walk you through. I think the receptionist walk through was fine. I would have been happy with that. But the person you talked to originally should not have treated you that way.

...but isn't the Preview Center open most evenings from 5:00 to 7:00 PM for member tours?

There are sales reps available, as I recall, but the "tour" consists of members looking at the model villas they have available, and asking questions if they (the members) have any.

I recall being told this at SSR about 3 years ago when we wanted to see the model villas.

Yes, I believe that is still correct.

Snarky does not equal sales...

Two years ago, DW and I actually went around to all the DVC resorts at WDW, explained that we were new owners (everyone of the desk clerk CMs said "welcome home"), and that we'd like to see an available room if possible, please. Every resort showed us a room and every CM was happy to tell us about the great stuff at their resort on the walk to and from the rooms.

It sounds like the sales staff (or at least the manager) needs a remedial lesson in Disney service.

So we were at WDW last week staying off site, since we purchased on resale market after already booking off site for this holiday through our Interval Time share. We are still waiting on closing, so we are not "Officially Owners",

There is NO excuse for rudeness...ever.

1. You are NOT, yet, owners till the resale contract closes, so the members preview is out.

2. Tours are by appt.

My guide, when I purchased in 2002, is salary based...only...NO comission. I also re-verified this with my guide recently (who has been a DVC guide for 15 yrs. ) NOW... Im told that there are part-time guides...maybe they are comission only ??:confused3

You're likely correct. I'm probably mixed up. I usually am.
