Bistro De Paris.....our "just desserts" review

That's one strange server you got there.

Objects in this restaurant are farther than they appear....

Was he far-sighted? :confused3

And those crepes look overdone. Bleh.
(But the apple stuff you got looked tasty.)

OK .... so I'm getting kicked under the table ...

Mister Disney wants me to write about this nice couple who were sitting next to us, who started whispering about us the minute we turned down the Bagettes.

Being one row in from the window, they had to crane their necks to see Illuminations. Between all the excitement of the fireworks, we exchanged pleasantries and the woman decided she'd be brave enough to question our dining habits.

It was with great joy that Mister Disney explained first that this was our Good Friday Tradition, but secondly our belief that life is uncertain, so we eat DESSERT first, and once a year, all we do is eat DESSERT!

While their meals certainly looked wonderful, and their tall, skinny, 20 something DESSERT DEPRIVED garcon certainly had more personality than OUR'S ... we couldn't help but overhear them "brokering" their consumption so they might be able to SPLIT one DESSERT!

Have they never heard of BUFFET PANTS?:rotfl2: :rotfl2:

The nice couple was on the last couple of weeks of their Winter journey before heading back to Cape Cod, Massachusetts. MASSACHUSETTS? OMG ... that's where we are originally from.

With the Bee Gee's song suddenly popping into our head .....:dance3:

MASSACHUSETTS ... OMG ... Where in MASSACHUSETTS?

Brockton ... Brockton, MASSACHUSETTS!

There are 351 cities and towns in MASSACHUSETTS. What are the odds that we travel all the way to France ... ok ... EPCOT ... but we're still in Bistro De Paris, France, right :rotfl2: and the couple sitting next to us are from the City of Brockton, where Mister Disney lived while "growing up".

Suddenly the whispers about our eating habits turned into open dialogue across the isle ... "Did you know this one? Did you know that one?" Our polite conversation crossed the isle and suddenly, our personality challenged, tall, skinny, 20 something, DESSERT DEPRIVED garcon didn't matter to us. Suddenly the way he presented the remaining DESSERTS didn't seem to bother us so much.

Suddenly too, in the corner where a quiet young couple had been seated, came a huge outburst ... "OH MY GOD" ... Suddenly, the four of us stopped and turned to see tears rolling down the cheeks of the young woman as she alternated her gazed between her hand and the handsome young man seated across from her.

On the table in front of her was a beautiful bouquet of power blue and white carnations in the middle of which was a glass slipper. Not that I'm a romantic, but it didn't take me too long to figure out ... this young man had popped the question ... given the woman a diamond ring in a glass slipper. Everyone in Bistro De Paris, France (EPCOT) joined in on the clapping in congratulations.

With all the noise from the clapping no one ever heard if she said "yes". OMG :scared1:

So, I quickly got up and when over. First, I asked to see the ring, but then asked the more pertinent question ... DID SHE SAY YES? :rotfl2:

:bride: She DID! :bride:

From across the restaurant I heard "KEVIN ... KEVIN"

OMG ... I'm in Paris, France ... (EPCOT) ... who knows me here?

I turned and saw Mister Disney, eye brow raised, index finger motioning me back to our table!

RUTT ROO ... K-Man's in trouble AGAIN! :rotfl2:

Well, it never came up in our conversations, but I used to live in Brockton. Is it that rare? :confused3
We lived on the Brockton/Stoughton line, near Goddard Hospital. Back in 1977. There was a VERY, VERY big blizzard while we lived there. Ring any bells?

Sorry, off topic.

So those apple things were tasty? ;)

Good old Brockton, "City of Champions", I'm in Whitman :lmao:

Now, a cold cheese plate and from France no less :scared1:

I wish Rick loved eating dessert, I could certainly do an entire dinner of desserts.

I think this could be a fun day trip into Boston for a stop at the chocolate bar.

We've done the Vienese Dessert Buffet at the Boston Four Seasons....

YUMMY!

Maybe we should plan a DIS Meet up in Boston sometime....or maybe in Connecticut?

Loving your review. If you want, I can get up off the couch, walk to France (the real one), and scream about your service.

Of course, in a few days, I'll be able to walk to the faux France in Epcot and do it...:yay:

Buffet pants and just desserts! I think I'm in love :worship: :worship:

ok, jumping on the Brockton bandwagon here - my FIL grew up in Brockton (along with DH's grandparents, aunts, uncles - all at 123 ash street, grandfather had built the house in 1932)

now back to our regular programming :happytv:

Despite working for a state representative and a state senator from Brockton,
I still stake claim on the most famous person to COME OUT of Brockton .... ROFLMAO

The last time we dined at Yachtsman Steak House a couple beside us had the same experience. A lovely gentleman on the other side of them was a professional photographer and saw what was coming before the rest of us did. He captured it all on "film" and then got their email address to send the photos. :goodvibes

if you all wanted to work something out... our older DD just moved to Boston in March. We are flying into Hartford in late June and spending the next week or so in Boston. I'm just sayin'..... ;)

Moving on....cause one can NEVER eat enough DESSERT!

Shouffle chaud au Grand-Marnier, emulsion a l’orange sanguine
bistrodeparis032108-015.jpg

Warm Grand Marnier soufflé served with blood orange emulsion

Notice the picture....our garcon, holding true to form....didn't bother to break open the souffle and pour the grand marnier into the Souffle.....I didn't realize that we had gone to the self serve counter.....:confused3 :confused3

Anyway...aside from the lousy service....this was delightful. Light and Airy...the grand marnier giving the dish that "alcohol bite".

Now you say to yourself...."self....what is a blood orange emulsion?"

Well.....the only way I can explain it, would be to call it a blood orange "foam"...something you drink...definitely odd, but a great compliment to the souffle.
