Biscuit's Grand Adventure | An epic tale three decades in the making!

After crashing through the turnstiles (well, actually I was the only crasher…and it was more of a snagged backpack resulting in a sideward lurch, than a full fledged crashing) we made our way to the bus stop.
Poor Biscuit! Hopfully, no bruises resulted in said crash!

With my new found "limitation", I really want to do some resort hopping. This one and AKL are definitely on my list!

Soon dessert came out and while I can’t say for sure, I’m pretty sure everyone enjoyed it.

Nothing says I love you better than chocolate goodness! Oh, that's a big bite![/COLOR]

My wife then gave me “the look” and asked the most dreaded of questions. “Are you going to the bathroom or are your going to the BATHROOM?” While this may sound to be a bit cyclical, believe me, I understood her meaning loud and clear. You see, we have a slightly different view on the time requirements related to the performance of one’s digestive finale.
:lmao::lmao:

We took a final look around and Tracy then gave me a near heart attack. She grabbed my hand, gave me hug and said “Next time, I want us to stay here.”

Was this a good or bad heart attack?

Please explain about the fork thing. I haven't read anything about it and didn't see this while we were there.
If you drop a fork on the floor, they bring you out that giant wooden one and make quite a show about hoping it’s big enough to hold onto. (They do eventually bring you a real fork.)

Don't feel too bad Dennis has the same reputation with potty problems. I'm more like Tracy, quick in and out where as Dennis will disappear for a while and the females in the family don't let him live it down.
:rotfl2: Gotta love the universal constant.

What an awesome day! And I (unlike my dial-up connection) love your pictures! Can't wait to read more :)
Thanks and :welcome: I try to shrink down the photos to try to be more bandwidth friendly, but with 40 of them in this episode, I imagine it still took a while.

Did you know there used to be a bar above Playhouse Disney? Playhouse used to be a food court of sorts and there was a bar. i think you could even access from the Brown Derby. It was called the Catwalk....and yes, we had drinks up there. I think it was inn 1991.
I did not, but it explains a LOT. I was wondering why they built such an elaborate catwalk for this show. You normally don’t see on that big in this type of venue. Now I know. (And knowing is half the battle you know.)

WCC...BBQ.....check. I'll have to come down to TX and you can take me on the mother of all BBQ joint tours.
TOTALLY! And from the looks of the posts below, the list is still expanding.

Dude! I'm a database administrator. I am so right there with ya! :rotfl:
Let me tell you, I have a new appreciation for your craft! I’m definitely a novice so I’ve spent the last two weeks googling to try to figure out some the queries I needed.

I don't know if you're aware, but Smokey Bones in Waco is long gone. I ate there once, but wasn't impressed. I don't even remember what I ordered, but I'll assume it wasn't the ribs.
It’s been about 6 years or so since I ate there so I guess I can officially take it off the list.

The problem with BBQ is that it seems that people love what they grew up on and everything else is... okay. Well, I grew up in Mexia, TX and my favorite BBQ, as uncouth as it sounds, is just a plain old chipped beef sandwich from Wright's. It has even become something of a tradition in my family that we make a special trip to Mexia just to bring back beef to make sandwiches for our Christmas dinner. We love it! Even DH, who did NOT grow up on Wright's, really loves it.
If I ever find myself heading through Mexia (which oddly enough I have on several occasions) I’ll stop and check it out.

I know. My nieces have done the same thing at gift shops. DD hasn't yet, but only for a lack of opportunity, I'm sure. My mom and dad even brought rocks back from their vacation for each of the girls - which they all completetly LOVED. Go figure!
popcorn::
Kids…what can you do?

I know my kids would LOVE the food at WCC. I like me some BBQ here too but it is not a NW thing. Thankfully I lived in Chicago for 10 years and while it isn't the south, I'm far more up on my brisket and ribs than most of my peers.
Awesome. Keep representing up there! One day, we’ll change the world!

Well well well....Great Lady Biscuit! Wow.
I was shocked…but happy.

Your bathroom soliloquies kill me!

And I mean that in the nicest most possible way.
:rotfl:

I'm dying for some bbq ribs now!
Whispering Canyon is one of the places I want to try.
I’d definitely recommend you try it at least once. Even if the food had not been that good, the experience was still fun.

Is there a man who can just enter the bathroom and "stop, drop, and roll"?:rotfl:

That's like expecting a woman who is trying on pants to not ask "do these make my butt look big?".
This is the point I’m trying to make.

Yeaaaah Buddy!!! Major Props for Texas B.B.Q!! :woohoo:

I'll add a couple for you GB. J&J's in Cedar Park Texas, they have the pulled pork you mentioned missing here, I like em better than Rudy's, no joke. My favorite at J&J's is actually the jalapeno sausage links and their turkey, mmmm. Their sauce...well, I could drink it by it's self, it's on the tangy side, not sweet (which I like too) but soooo good. If you, Tracey and girls come out this way you better give me a shout so John, the kids and I can treat you all to some B.B.Q! :)
I will be printing these out and trying the other places you've mentioned here.
Also another great place in Cedar Park (C.P. is just a little bit further down 35 from Georgetown and make a right on 1431, come straight and it's in the parking lot of HEB at 183 and 1431) is Smokey Moe's, just a stone's throw away from J&J's (which is on 1431 just past 183 on the left), my fav here is there chopped beef sandwiches and chopped beef topped baked potatoe.
Thanks for the update about WCC, I've put off wanting to eat here not knowing how I would compare the B.B.Q with what we're use to in Texas, now I'll give it a second thought. :thumbsup2
Okay, now you got me hungry. One thing if you do head to Mikeskas, the sides aren’t all that great. BUT, Fat Boys is like a mile and a half up the road so you can combine and conquer.

Next time y'all fly out of Houston, you need to go to Thelma's. (Currently closed due to a fire - coming back soon!) It is in a terrible neighborhood, is run down, and is considered to be (by Bobby Flay, for what it is worth) THE BEST IN AMERICA. Now I don't take his opinion on it, but I can tell you if you don't get there early, they run out! We like to refer to going to Thelma's as getting our beef drunk on. (That sentence is a grammatical nightmare I can't bother to fix!:rotfl:)

THere is also a place in the Hill Country (I'll have to ask Ferris for the name/location) that is only open on Saturday's, starting at 7am. If you're not there by 10, the ribs will be GONE. Cash, by the pound only.

I think I'll have to go to Baker's Ribs for a stuffed potato for lunch - they have a tangy sweet spicy sauce that is just yummy - Jim Goode's for Jalapeno Cheese bread, mmmmmmh.
Okay, so now I know where I’m going they next time I visit my sister.

I LOVE BEING A TEXAN! Thanks for the reminder!
Word

Well, you've sold me on WCC, and all hail First Lady Biscuit! Sounds like another trip is being planned....

I hope y'all are doing well - as always, you are in my prayers!

Jaime:rotfl2:
Well, let’s just say future ideas concerning the World have been augmented. (How’s that for a vague and obscure answer?)

Was this a good or bad heart attack?
Good! I’ll explain more in the wrap up.

First of all GB...great episode. I remember when DH officially drank the cool aid and it gave me that warm and fuzzy. We are trying a new place this visit and its very close to Wilderness lodge so we may have to try Whispering Canyon. I think I'd love it just to embarass the kids.

I don't know if you're aware, but Smokey Bones in Waco is long gone.
Well, I grew up in Mexia, TX and my favorite BBQ, as uncouth as it sounds, is just a plain old chipped beef sandwich from Wright's.

popcorn::

I have been told that the best in Waco is Uncle Dan's. I have partaken of it and it's pretty good, but I need to do more research before I endorce.

Mexia....well if I ever drive through there I will stop by. This is probable with DS's football games being all over the great state of Texas these days.

Is there a man who can just enter the bathroom and "stop, drop, and roll"?:rotfl:

That's like expecting a woman who is trying on pants to not ask "do these make my butt look big?".

LOL :lmao: I love this! Too funny and true!

My wife then gave me “the look” and asked the most dreaded of questions. “Are you going to the bathroom or are your going to the BATHROOM?”

Um, yeah...I could probably duplicate the look she gave you, 'cause I've given it to DH plenty of times! :rotfl2:

I'm so glad you enjoyed your dinner at WCC! :thumbsup2

I'm glad you enjoyed WCC. I think the chicken was the only thing I didn't eat. I thought it was pretty bad. Like Tracy, I enjoyed the brisket and ribs the best. :)

So Wilderness Lodge for your next trip huh, when might t

Ok, I was trying the whole everyday life thing, this morning, but then the toilet clogged. Now, I give up. I deffinitely need a DIS fix. So glad to have a GB update waiting for me.

Awesome update! We're trying out WCC this next trip, and I'm so excited! You don't get alot of good southern food up here, and I looove it.
I think I'm going to print off and frame that picture of the apple pie, if you don't mind. :lmao: That just looks too yummy. I'd be content just to look at it every day.

Staying at the Wilderness Lodge would be an awesome experience. I do love that resort. We've never stayed, either. I hope you get a chance to some day (soon!).

Too funny about the rock. Well, at any rate, it will remind her of the trip. I guess you don't need a souvenir to be layered in Mickey Mice and Disney logos in order to remember where you got it. She'll know why that rock is special.

Love the toilet humor. Thanks for a healthy dose. I had my own not so humerous toilet experience, today, so I needed that. I was trying the whole everyday life thing, this morning, but then the toilet clogged. Now, I give up. I deffinitely need a DIS fix. So glad to have a GB update waiting for me.
And the toilet is sitting there, still clogged. It will just have to wait.

Female trip report: shoes, bags, food, shoes, bags, ride, shoes, food.
Male report: bathroom, food, bathroom, food.

;)

Loved the update! Glad to read you enjoyed the WCC, we thought it was delish as well. :thumbsup2 Isn't that apple pie amazing?!

So CLOSE!

Actually it's nerdier that that. :teacher:

Part my job duties include building and maintaining databases. So....it's in Access. Which is kind of like using a freight train to ship a loaf of bread, but it works. Mrs. The King gave me an awesome idea with her final "thank you to my readers" post so I needed to be able to 1. Keep list of all my readers & 2. Know how any times they had posted. It also helps me know when I need to give a new poster an official :welcome:

So there you go. A deeper glimpse into the odd world of yours truly.

You and my husband would SO get along!!

Love this shot.

After we paid, we headed back out to the lobby and decided how to spend the rest of the evening. We took a final look around and Tracy then gave me a near heart attack. She grabbed my hand, gave me hug and said “Next time, I want us to stay here.”

Smart lady. ::yes::

Awesome update!:thumbsup2 I just played the BBQ song- I love it! I don't know how I missed it before, but that is a great song. My DH found it very entertaining as well.

We liked the skillet at WC and had a lot of fun there. We went there for my oldest DD's 12th birthday. The wait staff made her stand in the middle of the restaurant holding the slice of cake they gave her while everyone in WC sang to her. Then they all whipped out forks and ate her cake!:rotfl2: Her expression was priceless!

Now if there’s one thing yours truly takes seriously, it’s Bar-B-Que. (Also known as barbeque for those who don’t live in the South.) And since I was not in an officially recognized Southern state, I wasn’t sure what to expect. (If you missed the BBQ song link in post 1130 which explains all this, you’ll want to click here.)

Uh. I love that video, but they used VA for KY. I mean, I get the CA/FL joke, but really? And yes, they do use mutton in Owensboro. I could go on for days about BBQ. And mustard based sauce is AWESOME, but it only takes a tiny bit (cuz really good BBQ doesn't require sauce).

Oh, and living within a few hours of Memphis growing up (I lived in far Western KY) we had their influence on our ribs, so I just can't count Damon's or Tony Romas as real ribs.

Okay, now you got me hungry. One thing if you do head to Mikeskas, the sides aren’t all that great. BUT, Fat Boys is like a mile and a half up the road so you can combine and conquer.

No. You got me hungry! :cutie: As we speak I'm finishing my B.B.Q chopped beef sandwich and reading everyone's comments to your last TR post.
All your talk last night of B.B.Q got my mouth watering, so I spent all day with a hankering for some J&J's. :cloud9: Needless to say, I got J&J's for dinner.
If y'all come out for some good eats, I can assure you that the sides at J&J's are very good! Mmmmm.
Their pinto beans are very tasty, made with their jalapeno sausage and green chili's, very tasty. My fav. is the potato salad, it's fresh mashed potatoes and then all the normal fixins <but not to much celery, leaaaack! I don't like celery>and then I add my touch by putting some pico into it. <which they make daily> So, so tasty. :cloud9:

We don’t have pulled pork around here so I had nothing to compare it to, but I enjoyed and ranked it second among the meat offerings. But my favorite meat on the platter was hands down the chicken. It was moist, tender, and extremely flavorful. Knowing how hard it is to grill a good bird, I was impressed.

Seriously? No pulled pork? Its not that popular here in St. Louis, but when we lived in Nashville, I had to learn that barbeque was synonomous with pulled pork. See, all along I'd thought it was a verb, silly me;)

Holy Moly! How did that brick of chocolate even make it to her mouth?:scared1:

That is EXACTLY what I told my hubby when we visited WL in May (we were also eating at WCC). We all loved it. Maybe someday!

You see, we have a slightly different view on the time requirements related to the performance of one’s digestive finale.

She is of the opinion that if I really wanted to, I could simply enter, then stop drop and roll so to speak. After years of careful analysis, I have determined that when one tries to rush this particular process, it is done so at one’s peril. When I am doing paperwork, I need time to focus; time to concentrate on the task at hand. You must be one with your hindquarters. Otherwise, if you head out too soon, what would have been a harmless whistler later in the evening can turn into a package of doom. [/quote
:lmao:

Great update!

That was some kind of hilarious, yummy-looking, dreamy, and fantastic all wrapped up in one update!!

You are spot on with the men and bathrooms observations. It's not so much to muse on- they take forever in there!! GET ON WITH IT ALREADY! Unless you're preggers; that's a whole nuther ball of wax. But I don't see that happening to you anytime soon, so we'll move on.

Did Tracy really say that?!!! Gosh, you have my full attention now!! What could this possibly mean for Future Biscuit Forays into WDW? That Lady Biscuit is one classy woman!!

We almost went with WCC, but splurged on the Hoop instead. I may still do this one day, if only for the chance to see my kids get heckled. :lmao:

I love your girls' glasses-they crack me up! That food looks so good, 'specially the dessert! :) We went into the the Lobby of that place, and it was beautiful, I want to stay there someday.

It was a hoot. There were a lot of teens in there and all seemed to be having a good time.

I have been told that the best in Waco is Uncle Dan's. I have partaken of it and it's pretty good, but I need to do more research before I endorce.
Ooooooooooooo….a new spot to try.

It’s not a proper TR without a dose of good potty talk. You might not want to let that sit too long though. (Depending on the contents)

That pie is worth the price of admission.

You and my husband would SO get along!!
TOTALLY. I still don’t know yet what our dates are for our twin cities trip this summer.

Smart lady. ::yes::
Don’t I know it!

Awesome update!:thumbsup2 I just played the BBQ song- I love it! I don't know how I missed it before, but that is a great song. My DH found it very entertaining as well.
That had me cracking up. I’ve listened to that song a dozen times and it still makes me laugh.

I’ve heard several talk about the ribs in Memphis. I’ve never had a chance to try them, but I’m almost afraid too. (I’d hate it to spoil my ability to eat ribs any where else!)

No. You got me hungry! :cutie: As we speak I'm finishing my B.B.Q chopped beef sandwich and reading everyone's comments to your last TR post. That was actually the first time I’ve had pulled pork BBQ. Crazy huh?

Holy Moly! How did that brick of chocolate even make it to her mouth?:scared1:
She kind of held it skewered on the cake and ate it in 3-4 bites.

That is EXACTLY what I told my hubby when we visited WL in May (we were also eating at WCC). We all loved it. Maybe someday!
Isn’t Disney dreaming fun?

Let’s just say the future of WDW trips was RADICALLY altered by the end of the trip.

We almost went with WCC, but splurged on the Hoop instead. I may still do this one day, if only for the chance to see my kids get heckled. :lmao:
I hope you get a chance to try it out.

I love your girls' glasses-they crack me up! That food looks so good, 'specially the dessert! :) We went into the Lobby of that place, and it was beautiful, I want to stay there someday.

Whoa. That is amazing! I'm so impressed. I always thought that I was an obsessive planner, etc. type of a person (So does DH's family. They literally don't think past the next 15 minutes), but the DIS has opened my eyes to so many people that are much more...ahem....anal/OCD/obesessed??? than I am! And, believe me, I mean all of that in the most respectful way! :worship::worship::worship:

The wilderness lodge is lovely. I hope a 40% off code heads your way so you give Tracey her wish. I know you want to.

For some reason, I only get OCD over things that in the grand scheme of life, don't really matter all that much. Go figure. :confused3

The wilderness lodge is lovely. I hope a 40% off code heads your way so you give Tracey her wish. I know you want to.
It was an AWESOME resort. BUT, it would have be to an open ended PIN. Tracy hasn't seen her parents in nearly two years now so that's where our next vacation will take us.

Great update! I have a lot of fun memories at WCC. I too would love a stay at the Wilderness Lodge. So lovely and I think DH will really love it. Now I just have to win the Utah State Lottery to pay for it. Oh wait...we don't have a lottery ;)

Caught up! yay.
Hey GB WDW isn't going anywhere and either is that resort......
$5 here $5 there and eventually, you will be there again. :)
