Biscuits and gravy? Where can we find it

That's basically how I made it too, once with turkey sausage which had no flavor lol. You need the fat! I rarely feel like making a big breakfats and have been losing weight so I haven't made in a long time. We used it have a Cajun place in brooklyn that was amazing! I do add some butter and have never tried seasoning salt. Good idea! Nw I am hungry.
We might move in a few years and just thinking of missing our food like bagels makes me anxious! :) bagels, pizza, having every ethnicity possible, most deliverable.

Oh well! Every place has it's own great foods. I have had Montreal meats from a place again in brooklyn. I am forgetting the name but it's very popular! I don't think they bothered to try the bagels here....

My husband's family are German and his Mom has said (several times) "we thought about moving, but we wouldn't be able to get any brotchen (they get a special kind of bread from a local bakery, lol) or liverwurst or head cheese!" Lord help. Lol. Every time I go in a grocery store up north I am totally blown away by the selection (just a NORMAL grocery store, not even specialty). Kroger down here doesn't carry half the stuff that Shop Rite has up there!

My husband has found one pizza place here that does NY style and it's as close as he can get without the NY water - the people who own it are from Brooklyn, haha.

People down here sell cold bagels and give you a little cup of cream cheese. I have to give them the side eye glare, lol!! Nothin' like a toasted, warm, homemade everything bagel with a bunch of cream cheese already smeared on it, wrapped up in wax paper :lovestruc oh Lord, I have to stop, I don't eat many carbs anymore and now I just want to stuff my face with bread...

Aha! I have cut more than half my carbs too but I have about one bagel a month anyhow. It's worth it. I like an everything with chive! Only pkace I've ever gone to in nyc with chive is by my apartment. I love scallion too, but...it's amazing.

Can you believe my nana, who has some food issues and fears I guess, came down here and HAD to get her bagel form dunkin donuts?!? So nasty!!!! So we got ours from a proper place and got her cardboard one. So crazy!!!

We would love to indulge in some biscuits and gravy on our trip. We live in nyc and it is not easy to find.
Wondering where we might go to find some?
Our breakfasts now are mostly grab and go, resort (pop) or in park so we are open to lots of options.
I had the biscuits and gravy at Pop last December and liked it. It had sausage in the gravy, I am usually not a fan of the sausage gravy, but it was really good and gave it good flavor, not sure if that's something they do all the time.

Oh Lord, I CANNOT with Dunkin donuts!!! I will drink their coffee (only if I have to), but anything else from there just isn't worth my calories. I've tried the sandwiches...the donuts...the bagels...no ma'am. AWFUL. Lol I gave it so many chances when I first started coming up to NY to see my husband, but I just can't anymore, haha. Not worth it!!!

Starting our trip with it at pop our first morning would be great! My husband would be thrilled. :)

I've grown up wiht dunkin donuts but, no. The donuts are not worth it for me anymore and I used to like the boston cream and French crullers. There are just so many other choices that don't taste mass produced. We had some at the holy donut in portland, maine last year that were amazing..and made with mashed potatoes!

Anyhow I have to admit I am making biscuits and gravy this weekend, despite my diet. :) this got me excited!

We had the B&G at the Boardwalk - it's just okay. Had to ask for an extra container of gravy, as what they give you is not much!

Glad to hear Pop has it at their food court - my DD and I like to have it maybe once a trip!

Have had it at Picabu at the Dolphin. It wasn't too bad, but I don't expect great gravy anywhere at Disney I guess! I've never been to Bob Evans, but I would think theirs is much better!

PS: to the PP who posted a recipe, that is exactly how I make it (on the rare occasion that I do!).

What is your recipe? I come from Canada and we don't have it. My sister enjoy biscuits and i want to surprise her.

I think you were asking the OP so I hope she posts hers as well, everyone makes biscuits and gravy a little differently in the south, but the basic recipe is: brown sausage in a skillet, use the fat (add a little butter if needed) and coat the sausage in flour, cook (stirring) for a couple minutes to get the raw flour taste out, slowly pour in whole milk a little at a time (I pour, stir, pour, stir, etc) until you get a nice thick consistency. I use lots of pepper in mine, some people like less, it's personal taste- and I use seasoning salt vs regular salt, but that is personal taste as well. Some people add hot sauce. Serve over warm biscuits :thumbsup2

^basically my recipe too. I use maple sausage.

AKL's Mara has Sausage gravy that isn't bad.

I make it all the time at home( my husband never had it growing up, poor man was so deprived).

our local Officer's Club Sunday Brunch often has it. and every time we go there is someone( usually British, I find) that has no idea *** it is and gives it a wary look. one guy tentatively tapped me on the shoulder as I ladled it on my plate and whispered half fearfully asking what it was. I explained, he went for it then came back to my table later to thank me for introducing to his new favorite thing!

OMG so funny! I ordered it once when out with my friend who grew up with Italian parents in New York City. She asked what that was! I'm like, biscuits and gravy. She had never heard of it, poor gal.

they even had biscuits and gravy at the value resorts... I am an egg, sausage, home fries, biscuit kinda morning eater...so have never had gravy on my biscuits

I've had it at Captain's Grille and Whispering Canyon Cafe. WCC's was by far the best :-)

Another suggestion if you can go off site: Cracker Barrel. I hate to say it (and they're probably rolling in their graves), but CBs biscuits were better than my grand mother's biscuits. Sadly, my experience with WDW biscuits and gravy are that their more accurate names are hockey pucks and glue.

I really like Cracker Barrel, too! Haha I hope my grandma wouldn't disown me for saying that. Their biscuits and gravy are probably the best you can find in a chain, and their chicken and dumplings and fried okra... :lovestruc My husband thinks Cracker Barrel is weird, but he can be a bit of a food snob, lol. He mostly just doesn't understand why there are like 5 elderly people celebrating birthdays every time we go there...

I also have never had any decent biscuits & gravy at any of the restaurants at WDW. For some reason it all tastes a bit sweet to me.
Biscuits and gravy were a staple for my family growing up and after I got married I made it every Saturday and Sunday morning.
My mama & her sister cooked for the sawmill workers so we ate a lot of 'sawmill' gravy & 'cat's head' biscuits, lol.

I enjoyed the biscuits and gravy at Trails End... I can only compare it to the great ones I had at Bob's Evans in Mooresville, NC!
