Can we do the birthday stuff privately?

Every one of us has a birthday and if we start a thread for each of us, as the board grows it is going to be more and more of these posts.

Or maybe we can have one thread for ALL of the birthday talk?

Personally, I don't mind the birthday threads because there arn't that many of them. I mean it's not like there are birthdays every single day of the week of every single month. I don't mean to sound rude but I don't mind them.

I'm sorry, but I don't really see what the problem is...it's not taking up that much space. How exactly is it affecting you? What is wrong with wishing others a happy birthday? Why do you always have to be so negative all the time?

In someways I do agree with kitasus because it doesn't harm anyone by wishing each other a happy birthday. But wiht the negative part.... I don't know about that

I made a thread before asking a question and you said negative stuff back.
You made a thread attacking birthday threads when like there arn't that many of them.

If you do it privatly than nobody will know it's your birthday.
It's kind of just like saying stop with the off topic threads.

ok but if there are 2,000 of us on this board (read that somewhere) sooner or later it will get out of hand. Just today every time I sign on I see a post about it.

I personally don't care if people know that it's my birthday.

What I am saying is we don't allow a lot of off topic posting so how is this different than the very stuff we are not supposed to post?

I like knowing when it's someone's b-day. Maybe a Happy Birthday month of... thread would be nice. That way there would only be 12 of them a year?

The Administrators, along with Mal and I feel the board, which is under the Just for Fun heading, should be a place that is not only a video game board, but a place where the people we meet and interact with in the game can come together and continue those thoughts and discussions. Friendships are formed both on the boards and in the game and the boards allow those ties to continue and grow.

We would like to see the boards discuss the game, but also let it have a bit of community feel since the game is like a small community itself. We all know it is impossible to communicate effectivley in the game and the boards provide a place for us to do so. While we would hope the majority of the posts discuss the game, most off topic posts welcome. This is not to say that the board should become over run with nonsense threads, those will not be allowed.

that is a great idea, that way no one that wants to be listed gets left out.

I will say this again, on the MAIN VMK board, off topic posts ARE allowed.

It is not good board manners to and actually agaisnt DIS Board Guidelines to spam on a thread(alittle off topic banter in a thread is ok- it is the persistant off topic posters that get removed or the out and out spam that is removed).

But the Main VMK board is a community board within the larger community of the DIS as Lori explained.

Happy Birthday threads will continue to be allowed and on the offchance that we have a few dozen on any given day Lori and I can merge them if necessary.

Before this thread becomes a heated pro or con debate and tempers flair....it has been closed.
