Birthdays at restaurants

We are celebrating our 3 kids birthdays while at Dis and when making our ADR's I told them that we were celebrating a birthday (each child at one restaurant during the week). What do they do for birthdays? Do they sing Happy Birthday? Or is that not a guaranteed thing? Do I have to order a bday cake or will they bring out a cupcake or do something with the desserts we order?
When we went to Crystal Palace last vacation they sang to my husband and brought out a cupcake for him, not sure if all the restaurants do something like that.

If you want to have something, I suggest ordering it. It is hit or miss as far as the restaurantsn or CMs' doing anything on their own. We celebrated my DH's 50th at Disney and not one restaurant did anything. We celebrated my 50th there last September and our 25th anniversary this past September and every restaurant but two (Boatwright's and Whispering Canyon Cafe) acknowledged it with a piece of cake or a cupcake or a signed certificate/birthday/anniversary card to confetti on the table. But if you want to be assured of something, I'd order it.

With Disney now offering celebration packages at restaurants, I would guess that means they are probably done giving freebies.
