That's what my sister and daughter both got last year on our cruise. Our head waiter made a fuss over my DD 13, he made her stand up on the chair as they sang Happy Birthday to her. Afterwards, she told me she thought that was cool!!!

Let your TA or DCL know whose birthday and when and don't forget you can order the stateroom to be decorated or shirley etc to deliver a basket, normally they would also provide cake, song and pin.

Hey, that looks like our server Tommy on the photo!

Go to the cake decorating demonstration and tell them in advance that it is your birthday. They will ususually decorate a special cake for you and then deliver it to you during dinner. Nat:Pinkbounc

Yes, this is Tommy from Norway, he was our head server in August 2003. I last I heard from a CM was that Tommy was leaving DCL. My DD really enjoyed seeing him every night, he really made the cruise special for her!!!

Thought it was him! He was our Server this March: He said he would be leaving the ship soon, but I think he was staying in Florida with his girlfriend. Nice guy. Nat:Pinkbounc

Don't assume you'll get a pin. Took D-neice last year and for her birthday celebration she only received a cake. No pin. I knew she was *supposed* to get a pin, but in the excitement, forgot to ask for one for her. I asked here on the boards when we got back and it was about 50-50 the ppl who got the pin vs. those who didn't.

We're doing the 10 day this year and the day of disembarkation is my birthday. We will celebrate my bd and ds's (1/5) on the last night of the cruise. We are all avid pin collectors and I'll be SURE to get our pins this time! :)

If your doing land/sea, you can go to Epcot, WDW, etc guest services and request a HB pin to wear. Then everyone will acknowledge the birthday. On the ship, my twin girls each got their own cake and all the wait staff came over and sang HB-- they had a ball!!

The cake and song is “about it”. I imagine a tip to the headwaiter ahead of time could increase the festivities.

I highly recommend ordering a birthday package from Shirley at The Perfect Gift … she does a tremendous job and can create any type gift basket you would desire.

Thanks! I guess Shirley is out of the question for us as we are doing the West Coast cruise and that is a bit out of our way!

I will definitely mention to our server. THANKS

Tommy was great. He was supposed to be our server in January, but there was a wish family from Sweden on our cruise (beautiful little girl), but since he spoke the language he was asked to be their server and we got Orlan and Elvira. They were wonderful and we loved them. Botond was Tommy's assistant he was great. He even kept coming over to us to make sure we were well taken care of.
