Does anyone know if you can get a birthday cake at dinner for someone celebrating while on a cruise? If so how do you order it and how much does it cost?

you can definitely get specialty cakes at dinner...you know Disney-they just love to help us celebrate. Make sure you speak with your server the 1st night and let them know what night you would like the cake. They are complimentary.
We enjoy cruising in large groups...in 2004 we had 4 couples that went together, and I swear we had 1 of those cakes every night...we had 2 birthdays, 2 anniversaries, and 2 upper level degree graduations. It was a hoot. The biggest downside is that you can't bring them home with you. Since we were all drooling over the rest of the desserts on the menu, we had to be rolled from the dining room each night!:rotfl:

When we went last year it was my DH 50th and DS 16th a day apart.

When I booked the cruise on the phone with DCL directly. I mentioned the birthday to them and the CM said they would have a cake for them. I asked how much and the said it was complimentary. Now it was a personalized cake like a gigantic piece of cake. It was huge, beatifully decorated and delicious. For my son they put a Mickey Bar on top. He loved it.

So, the piece is big, two or three people could share it. So, I would meniton it when booking or call DCL and get that added.

My boys loved it.:wizard::thumbsup2

Recent reports have been that there is no longer 'free cake' served for special occassions in the dining rooms. They now provide some sort of mousse type dessert with the birthday banner. If you wish to order a cake to be served in the dining room there is a fee for this.

Several posters have said they have a copy of the order form but I haven't see anyone post the form. PLEASE, if you have a copy of the order form would you please post it for all to see.

My daughter celebrated her birthday on the Wonder last week. At dinner, she just got a small personal chocolate mousse cake with a candle; no cake for the table.

I did order the Disney birthday package, and our room steward set it up. She also received a personalised birthday card from the housekeeping staff, several buttons and lots of hugs.

The cake included with the birthday package was not too great, unfortunately. It was 2-3 layers of sponge cake literally only 1/4 thick each, alternated with 1 inch layers of not too great icing.

This is true--the chocolate mousse with a chocolate printed banner is what they offer now for free. The ice cream sundae in the photo was my husband's actual dessert from the menu that night.

Did you feel the birthday package was worth the $$ ?? We have, as the DCL CM called, a momentous year of celebration...DH welcome home, DS16th bday, DD 8th grade graduation, DS 12 yr bday(while on cruise), our 20th wedding anniversary. I'm thinking of just bringing different decor to celebrate each day but curious about the DCL packages.

I bet if you bring the decorations and ask your mousekeeper he/she will decorate your room for you. Just be sure to leave a gift or great tip!!

I thought the DCL decorations were over priced and saw no need for another cake (at that time we got the cake in the dining room!)...and there is cake all over the ship. So I brought my own and especially did up the door. That was great as all the little princesses on the ship were wishing mine a HB.

As PP's mentioned, the b-day person can receive a mousse cake on a night that you select (coordinate with your server.)

On one sailing, we did pre-buy the birthday package for our room. We got a quarter-sheet cake and decorations. Cake was pretty good, nothing spectacular, but a notch or two above grocery store-type cakes. The decorations we nice since they were set up before we arrived. They were pretty good quality items also. We kept them and still use them from time to time.

For kittyscrap1 (umm.. how am I to read that name? ;)), since you are celebrating more than 1 occassion, I would order a package for one of the celebrations so that you would have something in the room upon arrival. Then, you can coordinate with your host for all the other celebrations. :thumbsup2

Thanks. I was kind of thinking that as well. I told the CM when I booked we didn't need a special cake for any of it as the desserts are awesome. We'd gotten a cake one other time (the jello one) and while it was good..so were the other desserts. I'll probably just try to surprise them all each day with just a simple reminder of each celebration. My DS is already talking about other kids' 16th bday parties and I said..well if you want one..we wont' cruise..DH and I will but you kids can stay home. That went over well..not! :) Thanks for the input.

All I can do is laugh!!:rotfl: The name is what it is..I scrapbook and you can also tell what DH thinks of it. :rotfl2:
Good idea..thanks! Maybe the welcome home for DH! if they have it.
