Well DISers, my family just returned from our Mission Impossible Birthday Trip. It was for my 30th b-day and my DD's 4th birthday. The trip was a surprise from my lovely DW. Also on the trip, was my DD7 who is a thrill ride junkie. lol.
We arrived at Pop Century Resort Thursday night. We live in South Georgia so it's only about a 4.5 hour drive for us. We checked in and turned in since we were all tired (I had worked all day). We hit DHS for extra morning magic hours Friday with anticipation of riding Toy Story first. When we got there at 8:15, there was already nearly an hour wait so we decided to FP it and head over to Tower of Terror.
Neither of my DD's had ever ridden TOT, but both wanted to. My DD7 was no problem, and during the ride my DD4 wasn't either, but as soon as the ride was over, my DD4 kinda' freaked out. Not in a good way either. Unfortunately, my DD7 was about an inch short of riding Rockin' Roller Coaster. She handled it well though.
We went straight to Star Tours since my DD7 was dying to ride it. On the way to Star Tours, we saw Frank Caliendo pushing a stoller through the park. It was all I could do not asking him for a picture or something, but I honestly didn't want to bother him while he was on vacation with his kid.
After ST, we headed over to a family favorite, The Great Movie Ride. We went on the cowboy side! It was the first time in a long time seeing the cowboy kidnap scene. Once we finished that, it was on to the Backlot Studio Tour. We got some great pics of the family around some of our favorite Disney movie props in the villian section at the end of the ride (including a great one of my DD's and I in front of Davey Jones' organ.
Finally it was time to redeem our FP for Toy Story (yeah, we got them at 8:15and couldn't redeem them until 11:30). For those who haven't ridden TS, it's a must do. I'm proud to say, I got over 160,000 pts. on it!
We grabbed a quick bite at ABC Commisary and saw MuppetVision 3-D before heading over to the Indiana Jones Stunt Show. I'm embarrassed to say, I haven't seen the Indy show since it was a single scene (Cairo). The new version was very good.
We finished our day with Lights, Motors, Action! Our plan after that was to head back to Pop for a quick dip in the pool and a nap before heading back for Fantasmic. After a dip in the pool, showers, and supper, we all turned in early and never made it back to DHS. lol
The next morning, we had a gameplan of hitting 3 attractions at AK during EMH and the first hour or so or normal hours before heading over to Epcot for the remainder of the day and staying for Fantasmic.
We got to AK right before EMH opening and were on one of the first trucks out for Kilamanjaro Safaris. It was all of our first time on this ride and we throroughly enjoyed ourselves.
We made a beeline from Africa over to Asia (sounds more dramatic that way, in true Disney fashion) to hop aboard Expedition Everest. This is a favorite of DW and I, but my DH7 had never ridden it. Unfortunately, she didn't enjoy herself as much as I thought she would have and left me to ride it solo after she and mom rode it first.
We only had 1 more stop to make at AK, and then off to Epcot. We got SOAKED on Kali River Rapids, which made that bus ride and the next 3 hours rather enjoyable! lol.
We arrived at Epcot right on schedule (approx. 10am) and ran to Soarin' for FP's. We went ahead and jumped on the Land since there was no wait. Next it was Nemo and Turtle Talk before lunch and FP Redeeming at Soarin'.
During lunch, DW and I started talking about how it's not Disney unless you go to MK (someone at church had really given us a hard time about planning a trip to Disney and not planning on doing MK. lol). We decided we'd at least go to see Wishes and Spectromagic rather than staying at Epcot for Illuminations.
After Soarin' we wanted to hit Test Track, but decided against the 110 minute wait! That was the first wait time we saw the whole trip that was over an hour! We rode SpaceShip Earth on our way back to the room for a nap and most importantly, dry clothes!!!!!!!
We arrived at the MK Saturday afternoon, clean, dry, and refreshed. It was about 4, so we were pleased with the progress of the trip so far. Much to my surprise (and absolute joy), we walked directly on to my favorite ride POTC.
Next, we were able to walk onto BTMR with only a 10 minute wait. Haunted Mansion was next on our list. HM is one of our all-time favorite rides and DW had not seen the changes. Fortunately, I had already ridden it 3x since the changes because I was a chapperone with our church youth group last September.
We were also able to fit in, It's a Small World, Buzz, TTA, COP, and Monster's Inc before Wishes and SpectroMagic.
All in all, I was amazed at our progress and the fact that we were not exhausted during the trip. There were alot of people at the parks, but lines were very manageable. Here's a recap of each day.
