Our son turns 6 years old on Jan 24 and we're planning a surprise trip for him to WDW from Sat Jan 21 – Tue Jan 24 staying at Pop Century w/ 4-day Park Hopper Plus passes.

Our first onsite trip was this past May (2005) and we absolutely loved it. We had park hopper passes, but didn’t visit the water parks or DisneyQuest.

The only attractions DS wasn’t able to ride was RnR Coaster & Primveval Whirl because of the 48” height requirement. We have just 4 days to pack all the fun stuff in and we’re looking for some itinerary advice and ideas to make this a memorable birthday for our little boy.

FYI – If DS could only ride three rides on the trip they would be: Splash Mountain, Tower of Terror & Big Thunder Mountain RR. Since it looks like Splash Mountain will be closed for rehab on the last two days of our trip, we’re trying to front load a lot of time in at the Magic Kingdom.

**Attractions we’ve never experienced

DS’s 6th Birthday

Tue Jan 24 08:00a: Check out of Pop Century
Tue Jan 24 09:00a: Arrive Magic Kingdom
Get Birthday button at City Hall
Tue Jan 24 11:20a: Hop Monorail for EPCOT
Tue Jan 24 12:00p: Character Meal @ Garden Grill** with Chip, Dale & Mickey!
Disney Dining rep gave me phone number to call and order a birthday cake for the meal. However, our son doesn’t like cake so I was hoping they could make large Mickey chocolate chip cookies.
Tue Jan 24 02:00p: Hop Monorail back to Magic Kingdom
Tue Jan 24 05:00p: Absolutely latest to leave Magic Kingdom for Pop Century Magical Express bus back to MCO. Southwest flight leaves at 8:00p

This is where we need your help. Tuesday seems so hectic with checkout, travel from MK to EPCOT just for a character meal and getting back to the airport on time. However, we’d prefer for him to have a Mickey character meal on his birthday.

Dinner at Chef Mickey’s is too late and we’re doing a character breakfast the day before. Our other two options would be to have a lunch with Pooh & Gang at the Crystal Palace on Tuesday, or have a birthday character dinner the night before his birthday.

Any advice or ideas about making this trip special will be appreciated.

Thanks!

Whoa! You sure are doing a lot of park hopping! The arrival day, I would just focus on the MK. Don't move around so much. If you want to do DQ, plan a morning to do, the place will be less crowded.

Collect the birthday buttons at each park, as you get to them. Each park has their own. And, celebrate DS birthday everyday of the trip. Tell the CM's at the table service that it's your DS b-day. You just never know...

I would keep checking back for Chef Mickey's for lunch or do lunch at the Crystal Palace. Don't park hop if you don't have to. It takes too much time.

Just relax and enjoy the parks at your DS's pace. You will have so much more fun.

boswellnakia, sorry we have no pics of the bday button, but just wanted to say hi because I noticed you're in Greensburg and my parents and some other family live nextdoor in Campbellsville! It really is a Small World, huh? See ya... :wave2:
