My husband and I are bringing my son to DW in The first week of October,he will be turning 8 and has no idea.I want to make his b-day extra special, any suggestions would be great. Thanks!!!

Well first of all make sure that ALL of your ADRs (which you should be making right now) have his bday noted on them. Some places do something special- others don't. But the ones that do make it fun.

Get a Happy Birthday button when you check into your hotel.

MNSSHP is going on in October. If you celebrate Halloween, you may want to check it out. We LOVE it. We did it for DD's birthday this trip.

Click the link in my siggie. Our surprise video is on the first page of my TR.

As PP said, wear the button and/or make sure you place it on the table when you eat. At some of the character meals, you may even get a signed birthday card! (At Tusker House, my son got a card signed by all the characters at the breakfast. It was an unexpected, and an awesome, suprise!)

You can also order birthday cakes at most restaurants ahead of time. If there is one particular day you are celebrating his birthday on, you might consider having a birthday cake in his favorite character. (They can also deliver to most resorts). Search for the 'Cake Thread' for some wonderful pictures.

You can arrange for something special to be delivered to your room by the Disney Florist.

Be sure to tell the front desk at your Disney resort that you are celebrating a birthday and ask for a call from Mickey and Minnie. The call will come on your room voice mail and you can listen to it over and over (as long as you don't delete it that is!)

Have fun!

We just went for my dd's 5th and did as the PP mentioned and had her birthday noted on our ADRs and got her the birthday button. We didn't allow her to wear the birthday button until the day of, but she wore it every day after. Of 7 ADRs we had, they brought a birthday cake out at 6 of them (including breakfasts!). My poor boys by the end were telling everyone it's not her birthday anymore. :rotfl2: She must have been told happy birthday at LEAST 100x over the course of our last 4 days. At MK a CM outside of one of the restaurants in Adventureland stopped us, rang a bell, announced to everyone that it was her birthday and got anyone willing to join him in singing to her, and then announced we volunteered and we got a round of applause. It was totally unexpected, embarrassing, and FUN! A little later we were on the Jungle Cruise and our operator wanted her to drive the boat... she was too chicken so my ds6 got to instead. Then as we were walking through Harbor House to go to the rest room, another CM came up, wished her a happy birthday and gave her a princess and the frog game. All sorts of magic can happen when your wearing the button. Don't expect any of it, but be pleasantly surprised when it does!
